Samsung BAR Plus MUF-64BE3 — 64 GB, up to 300 MB/s read, metal unibody

64 GBMetal unibody, keyring loop300 MB/s read · 30 MB/s write5-year limited warranty

The Samsung BAR Plus is a 64 GB USB flash drive rated by Samsung at up to 300 MB/s read and 30 MB/s write. BAR Plus is the full-size stick in Samsung’s range, and one of the few flash drives where Samsung actually names the construction: a metal unibody with an integrated keyring loop. There is no cap to lose — the connector is fixed and exposed. Samsung covers it with a five-year limited warranty and its “five-proof” durability set — water, temperature, magnet, X-ray and shock. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Two things worth setting straight before you buy. First, write speed is far lower than read speed, and 64 GB is the slowest rung in the range: 30 MB/s writing against 300 MB/s reading. Samsung publishes 60 MB/s write at 128 GB and 110 MB/s at 256 GB and above, so if you copy large files onto the drive regularly, a bigger capacity is genuinely faster and not just larger. Second, the interface: Samsung’s product page says USB 3.1 Gen 1 and its 2024 datasheet says USB 3.2 Gen 1 — these are the same 5 Gb/s link renamed, not two different speeds. This drive has a standard USB-A connector, so a phone or a modern laptop with only USB-C ports needs an adapter.

Key Features

Up to 300 MB/s read
Samsung’s current datasheet figure for the 64 GB drive. Note that older listings still quote 200 MB/s — that was the 2018 specification and Samsung has since revised it upward. Reading is where these drives are quick; writing is a different number entirely.

Metal body with a keyring loop
Samsung describes it as a metal unibody with an integrated keyring loop, which makes it the drive in the range designed to be carried rather than left in a port. At 40 mm long and 10.9 g it has the heft of something that will survive a pocket full of keys — and no cap to lose, since the connector is fixed.

Five-proof durability, and a five-year warranty
Samsung publishes figures rather than adjectives: water to 1 m in 3% salt water for 72 hours, shock at 1,500 G over 0.5 ms, magnets to 15,000 gauss and X-ray to 100 mGy. It cites no external standard for any of them — these are Samsung’s own test conditions, not an IP rating — but they are specific, and the drive carries a five-year limited warranty.

Identification
Brand Samsung
Model BAR Plus MUF-64BE3
Part Number / MPN MUF-64BE3/APC

Colour Champagne Silver. Note that Samsung’s EU colour selector shortens this to “Silver” — the full marketing name appears in the product URL and the datasheet.
Drive & Interface
Capacity 64 GB
Connector Single USB Standard-A (Type-A), no cap
Interface USB 3.1 Gen 1 on Samsung’s product page; USB 3.2 Gen 1 in its 2024 datasheet. The same 5 Gb/s link — a naming revision, not a hardware change. Backward compatible with USB 3.0 and 2.0.
Sequential Read Up to 300 MB/s
Sequential Write Up to 30 MB/s at this capacity
Speed by Capacity — why 64 GB is the slow one
64 GB 300 MB/s read / 30 MB/s write
128 GB 400 MB/s read / 60 MB/s write
256 GB and 512 GB 400 MB/s read / 110 MB/s write
What This Means If you mostly read from the drive, capacity makes no difference. If you write large files to it, the bigger capacities are materially faster.
Durability — Samsung’s five-proof set
Water 1 m depth in 3% salt water for 72 hours
Shock 1,500 G, 0.5 ms pulse
Magnet Up to 15,000 gauss (Samsung notes MRI machines run 5,000–15,000 gauss)
X-Ray Up to 100 mGy
Temperature Samsung’s own sources disagree: the 2024 datasheet gives 0 to 60 °C operating and −10 to 70 °C non-operating, while the product page’s spec table gives −25 to 85 °C and −40 to 85 °C. We publish the datasheet pair as the current figure.
Standards None cited. Samsung names no IEC, IPX, ISO or JEDEC standard for any of these figures, and adds that testing was conducted under controlled conditions. They are manufacturer test conditions, not certifications — do not read them as an IP rating.
Physical
Dimensions 40.05 × 15.46 × 12.02 mm
Weight Approximately 10.9 g
Body Metal unibody — Samsung’s own words — with an integrated keyring loop. Samsung does not name the alloy.
Warranty
Warranty 1-Year Warranty (Singular)
Manufacturer Term Samsung publishes a 5-year limited warranty on its USB flash drives. Singular’s direct warranty is 1 year; beyond that we assist you with the manufacturer’s warranty process for its full duration.
Not Published by Samsung
Omitted Specifications MTBF, TBW or endurance, controller model, NAND type, IP rating, drop height in metres, power consumption, random IOPS and the file system as shipped are not published for any of Samsung’s flash drives.
Alloy and Finish Samsung says “metal unibody” but never names the alloy or the finish process.
Lifecycle Samsung Semiconductor has removed USB flash drives from its consumer-storage site, and Samsung’s UK, Irish and German pages show this part as no longer available or not for sale. It remains in EU distribution, but treat it as a run-out line rather than a current one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the write speed only 30 MB/s?
Because this is the 64 GB capacity, and Samsung’s write speeds scale with capacity across its whole flash-drive range: 30 MB/s at 64 GB, 60 at 128 GB, 110 at 256 GB and above. Read speed is 300 MB/s here and 400 MB/s at the larger sizes. If you regularly copy big files onto the drive, the larger capacities are genuinely faster, not just roomier.
What is the difference between BE3 and BE4?
Colour only. BE3 is Champagne Silver, this one; BE4 is Titan Grey. Samsung confirms identical dimensions, weight, speeds, interface, durability figures and warranty for both — the only thing that changes is the finish. Watch out for listings that sell them interchangeably or omit the colour entirely.
What is the difference between BAR Plus and FIT Plus?
Form factor and nothing else that matters. BAR Plus is this full-size metal stick with a keyring loop; FIT Plus is a low-profile stub for leaving plugged into a car stereo or a TV. Speeds are identical at every capacity, the five-proof durability figures are identical, and both carry a five-year warranty.
Is it waterproof?
Samsung publishes a test condition rather than a rating: 1 m depth in 3% salt water for 72 hours. It cites no IEC or IP standard for that, and adds that testing was done under controlled conditions. So it will survive a soaking or a trip through the washing machine, but it is not certified to an IP rating and should not be described as one.
Singular Expert Insight
BAR Plus is the one to buy if the drive lives on a keyring or in a pocket — the metal body and the fixed connector are what make that survivable, and the integrated loop means you are not relying on a plastic lanyard hole. The specification is identical to FIT Plus, so the choice is purely about shape. The honest caveat at this capacity is the 30 MB/s write speed: fine for documents, music and the odd photo dump, slow if you regularly move video. This is the Champagne Silver finish; MUF-64BE4 is the same drive in Titan Grey. Compare the range in our USB flash drives category, or see our SD cards if the destination is a camera rather than a computer.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want a drive that lives on a keyring and survives it — metal body, no cap to lose, and a loop built into the casing.

Skip it if

You copy large files onto the drive often; at 64 GB the write speed is 30 MB/s, and the larger capacities are considerably quicker.

Also consider

MUF-64BE4 for the same drive in titan grey, FIT Plus if you would rather leave it plugged in, or a larger capacity for faster writing.
