Samsung Galaxy S26 — 512GB, 12 GB RAM, Black

6.3″ 120 Hz, 2,600 nits3x optical telephotoExynos 260012 GB / 512GB

The Samsung Galaxy S26 (SM-S942BZKHEUE) is the compact model in Samsung’s current flagship generation, in Black with 12 GB of memory and 512GB of storage. A 6.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X at 2,600 nits, a three-camera system with a real 3x optical telephoto, IP68 and 167 g — a full flagship that still works one-handed.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Three sizes share this generation and they are not interchangeable. The Galaxy S26 is SM-S942B at 6.3 inches; the S26+ is SM-S947B at 6.7 inches with a QHD+ screen and a 4,900 mAh battery; the S26 Ultra is SM-S948B at 6.9 inches with a 200 MP camera and an S Pen silo. Cases and screen protectors do not cross between them. The previous generation sits one digit away as well — S25 is SM-S931B. Note also that in Europe the S26 and S26+ run an Exynos 2600 while the Ultra runs a Snapdragon, so reviews of a US Ultra do not describe this phone. And no charger is included: Samsung ships the phone, a data cable and an ejection pin.

Best For

✓ A full flagship that still fits one hand
✓ Photography with a real 3x optical telephoto
✓ Anyone replacing an older compact Galaxy
✓ Seven years of security updates
✓ IP68 durability without Ultra bulk
✓ Buyers who want a small phone without a small specification

Key Features

6.3 inches at 2,600 nits
Dynamic AMOLED 2X at 2,340 x 1,080 with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, Vision Booster and a 2,600-nit peak, behind Gorilla Glass Victus 2 in an Armor Aluminium frame. At 149.6 x 71.7 x 7.2 mm and 167 g it is one of the last genuinely compact flagships.

A real telephoto, not a crop
50 MP F1.8 main with optical stabilisation, a 10 MP F2.4 telephoto at 3x optical with its own stabilisation, and a 12 MP F2.2 ultra-wide, plus a 12 MP autofocus front camera. Digital zoom runs to 30x and video records at 8K 30 fps. A dedicated zoom lens is the thing thin and cheap phones give up first.

Exynos 2600 in Europe
European S26 and S26+ units run Samsung’s own Exynos 2600, a deca-core part at 3.8, 3.26 and 2.76 GHz. The Ultra uses a Snapdragon in every market, so the two are genuinely different chips within the same family — worth knowing when reading reviews.

Seven years of security updates
Samsung publishes seven years of security updates for the S26 series, with support running to 28 February 2033. It does not publish a number of OS generations for this series, so we quote the date it does publish rather than a figure it does not.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is it different from the S26+ and the S26 Ultra?
Size, battery and, on the Ultra, cameras. The S26+ has the same three cameras as this phone in a 6.7-inch QHD+ body with a 4,900 mAh battery and 45 W charging. The Ultra is a different tier: 6.9 inches, a 200 MP main camera, a 5x optical telephoto alongside the 3x, 60 W charging and an S Pen. The plus is a bigger S26, not a smaller Ultra.
Which chip is in a European unit?
The Exynos 2600. Samsung uses its own silicon in the S26 and S26+ for Europe, while the S26 Ultra runs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in every market. If you are reading benchmarks, check which version the reviewer had.
Does it support Qi2 magnetic charging?
Samsung does not claim Qi2 for the phone itself — its published wording is Fast Wireless Charging 2.0. Qi2 and magnets appear in Samsung’s own accessories: its magnetic cases and its Qi2 chargers. In practice that means you get magnetic alignment by putting the phone in a Samsung Magnet case, not from the bare phone.
What comes in the box?
The phone, a data cable and an ejection pin. No charger. Samsung states the power adapter is sold separately; a 25 W USB PD unit reaches the published charging speed.
Singular Expert Insight
The compact flagship has almost died out, and the Galaxy S26 is one of the few survivors that does not ask you to give anything up for the size. 6.3 inches and 167 g, but with a 2,600-nit panel, IP68, and — the part that matters — a genuine 10 MP telephoto at 3x optical rather than a cropped main sensor pretending to zoom. That last point is where phones in this class usually cut, and it is why the S26 photographs better at distance than several larger and more expensive rivals. Two things to know before ordering. In Europe this is an Exynos 2600 phone, not a Snapdragon one; that only matters if you are comparing against a review of a US unit or an S26 Ultra. And Samsung publishes seven years of security updates with an end date of February 2033, but does not publish a count of OS upgrade generations for this series, so anyone quoting you a number for that is guessing. The rest of the range is in mobile phones, and cases in phone cases.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want a flagship that works one-handed, with a real 3x optical telephoto, IP68 and security updates into 2033. Black is the colour you want and 512GB is enough storage.

Skip it if

You want the biggest battery or the best camera in the family — that is the S26+ and the S26 Ultra respectively. Skip it too if you need a memory card slot or a charger in the box.

Also consider

Samsung Galaxy S26+ for a 6.7-inch QHD+ screen, a 4,900 mAh battery and 45 W charging. Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra for the 200 MP camera, 5x optical zoom and an S Pen. A Samsung Magnet case if you want magnetic charging and mounts.
