Samsung PRO Endurance 256 GB — the card built for continuous recording

140,160 hours ratedClass 10 / U3 / V30SD adapter included5-year warranty

The MB-MJ256KA is Samsung’s PRO Endurance microSDXC card at 256 GB, with an SD adapter in the box. This is the one line in Samsung’s range designed for always-on recording — dashcams, home and network security cameras, body cams. Samsung rates it at up to 140,160 hours of continuous Full HD recording, which is around sixteen years. Read and write are 100 and 40 MB/s. It measures 15 × 11 × 1 mm and weighs about 0.25 g.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Why this card and not a faster one. Samsung’s warranty on EVO Plus, PRO Plus, PRO Ultimate, T7 and T9 explicitly excludes dashcam, CCTV, surveillance and other write-intensive use. Those cards are faster, but a recorder rewrites the same blocks all day and wears them out. PRO Endurance is the line Samsung builds and warrants for exactly that job, and it is the only one whose page carries an hours rating. If your card is going into something that records unattended, this is the correct product even though the headline speeds are lower.

Best For

✓ A multi-camera security system that never stops recording
✓ Dashcams recording every journey
✓ Body cams and other always-on devices
✓ Anyone who has already worn out a consumer card in a recorder

Key Features

140,160 hours — the top of the range
Roughly sixteen years of continuous Full HD recording, measured by Samsung at 1920 × 1080 and 26 Mbps. No other Samsung microSD line publishes an endurance number at all, and 256 GB is the largest PRO Endurance card, so this is the longest-lived card Samsung sells.

Endurance scales with capacity
32 GB = 17,520 hours · 64 GB = 35,040 · 128 GB = 70,080 · 256 GB = 140,160. Buying up a capacity in this line buys recording life as well as storage — which is not true of any other card.

The warranty scales too — and this one is at the top
Samsung tiers the PRO Endurance warranty by capacity: 2 years at 32 GB, 3 years at 64 GB, 5 years at 128 GB and 256 GB. This card gets the full five. Note the smaller cards also drop to U1 and V10, where this one is U3 and V30.

100 MB/s read, 40 MB/s write — and that is fine
Slower than the consumer lines, and deliberately so. A dashcam writes a steady stream at a fraction of that rate; what matters is that the card keeps accepting writes for years. V30 guarantees a sustained 30 MB/s floor, comfortably above what any recorder needs.

No A1 or A2 rating — by design
Samsung publishes no application performance class for PRO Endurance. The A-classes describe random access for running apps from a card, which is irrelevant in a recorder. Its absence here is not a downgrade; it is the wrong metric for the job.

Warranty
Warranty 1-Year Warranty (Singular)
Samsung Term 5 years at this capacity. Samsung tiers PRO Endurance by size: 2 years at 32 GB, 3 at 64 GB, 5 at 128 GB and 256 GB. Shorter than the 10 years on its consumer microSD lines, but unlike those it is not excluded for recording use. Singular’s direct warranty is 1 year.
Bundled Adapter Samsung limits the SD adapter warranty to 1 year.
Not Published by Samsung
TBW Not published. Samsung expresses this card’s life in recording hours rather than terabytes written, so there is no TBW figure to quote.
Random IOPS Not published — and no A-class is claimed, so there is no implied minimum either.
Other Omissions NAND type and layer count, controller, MTBF and UBER are not published.
Lifecycle Samsung’s 2026 microSD renaming retired the EVO Plus, PRO Plus and PRO Ultimate names in favour of T7 and T9. PRO Endurance was not named in that change and its EU pages remain live — but Samsung has made no positive statement about retaining it, so we flag its long-term status as unconfirmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not just buy a faster card for my dashcam?
Because Samsung’s warranty on the faster cards specifically excludes that use. EVO Plus, PRO Plus, PRO Ultimate, T7 and T9 all carry the same exclusion for dashcam, CCTV and surveillance. A consumer card in a recorder will work for a while and then fail, and you will have no claim.
Is 256 GB worth it over 128 GB?
In this line, unusually, yes — you get double the storage and double the rated recording life, 140,160 hours against 70,080. In every other Samsung card range the endurance is the same whatever size you buy.
Why is it only 100 MB/s when other Samsung cards do 200?
Different design goal. Endurance cards are built to keep accepting writes for years rather than to empty quickly through a reader. A dashcam writes a few megabytes per second; 100/40 MB/s is far more than it needs, and the V30 mark guarantees the sustained floor.
Does it have an A1 or A2 rating?
No, and it does not need one. Those classes measure random read and write performance for running apps from a card — a phone metric. A recorder writes sequentially, so the A-classes tell you nothing useful about it.
What warranty does Samsung give?
Five years at this capacity, and one year on the SD adapter. Samsung tiers this line by size, so the 32 GB card gets two years and the 64 GB three. That is shorter than the ten years on its consumer cards, but it is the only Samsung microSD warranty that actually covers continuous recording.
Can I use it in a phone as an ordinary card?
Yes, it is a standard microSDXC card. Without an A-class rating it will feel slower than an EVO Plus if you run apps from it, so for phone use one of the consumer lines is the better choice.
Singular Expert Insight
The single most useful thing we can tell you about memory cards is this: the card that goes in a dashcam is not the card that goes in a phone. Samsung is unusually explicit about it — every consumer microSD it sells carries a written warranty exclusion for dashcam, CCTV and surveillance use, and PRO Endurance is the only line it rates in recording hours. People buy the faster, better-reviewed card, put it on a windscreen, and replace it a year later wondering why. At 256 GB this is the top of that line: the longest rated life Samsung publishes for any card, and the full five-year term. Two practical notes: capacity buys recording life here as well as space, which is unique to this range; and if the card lives in a car, the 85 °C operating ceiling is comfortably above what a Cyprus summer will do to a windscreen mount. Browse our SD and microSD card range, or a card reader for pulling footage off it.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

The card is going into a dashcam, security camera or body cam and you want the longest recording life and warranty Samsung publishes.

Skip it if

The card is for a phone, camera or console. You want speed and an A2 rating there, and EVO Plus, PRO Plus or T7 will serve you better for the same money.

Also consider

The 128 GB PRO Endurance if half the recording life is enough, or EVO Plus and PRO Plus for phone, camera and console use.
