Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro — sealed two-way earbuds with IP57 and Bluetooth 6.1
Sealed fit, S/M/L tipsTwo-way speakerIP57 (earbuds)Bluetooth 6.1 + LE Audio
The SM-R640NZKAEUE is Samsung’s Galaxy Buds4 Pro in black — the sealed, in-ear model in the Buds4 range, with a two-way speaker (a woofer and a tweeter with a dual amplifier), Adaptive ANC, Bluetooth 6.1 with LE Audio and Auracast, and an IP57 rating on the earbuds. Samsung publishes up to 6 hours per bud with ANC on and 7 hours with it off, or 26 and 30 hours including the case. Three sizes of silicone ear tip are in the box.
Compatibility — check before buying:
⭐ Buds4 Pro or Buds4? The difference is not the price tier — it is the fit, and it changes everything.
• Buds4 (SM-R540) is open-fit: no ear tips, no seal, no plugged-ear feeling. Very comfortable, and you stay aware of your surroundings — but noise cancelling on an unsealed bud can only do so much.
• Buds4 Pro (this one) is sealed and in-ear, with three sizes of silicone tip supplied. It isolates properly, so the ANC has something to work with.
Anyone who chose the Buds4 for comfort and buys these expecting the same sensation will be surprised, and vice versa. Decide on the fit first, then on the specification.
What else the Pro adds: a two-way speaker (woofer plus tweeter, with a diaphragm Samsung says is 19.8% larger than the Buds3 Pro’s) against the Buds4’s single 11 mm driver · IP57 against IP54 · roughly an hour more per bud (6 h / 7 h against 5 h / 6 h with ANC on and off).
⚠️ IP57 covers the earbuds only. Samsung states plainly that the charging case is not water resistant — exactly as on the Buds4. Do not let the higher rating imply otherwise.
What works on which phone. Basic audio and calling work over standard Bluetooth. Everything else — the SSC and SSC-UHQ codecs, Auto Switch, the Galaxy AI features — requires a Samsung Galaxy phone, with One UI 8.5 referenced for full integration. Samsung publishes no iOS statement at all on its European pages, so we make no iPhone claim.
???? Greek is not supported. Samsung Greece publishes explicit footnotes on its own Buds4 Pro page: the AI translator “δεν υποστηρίζονται τα ελληνικά”, and the same for the AI voice assistant. This is unchanged from the Buds4. If real-time translation into Greek is why you are buying these, they will not do it.

Best For
✓ Blocking out a plane cabin, a train or an open-plan office
✓ Music where the two-way driver earns its keep
✓ Anyone who prefers a sealed, isolating fit
✓ Galaxy phone owners who want the full codec and AI feature set
Key Features
A two-way speaker — the real audio upgrade
A dedicated woofer and tweeter with a dual amplifier, against the single 11 mm driver in the standard Buds4. Samsung says the woofer diaphragm is 19.8% larger than the Buds3 Pro’s. ⚠️ It does not publish driver diameters for the Pro, so any millimetre figure you see quoted for this model is invented.
Sealed fit with three tip sizes
S, M and L silicone tips in the box. The seal is what lets the noise cancelling work properly — and it is the fundamental difference from the open-fit Buds4, which has no tips at all.
IP57 on the earbuds
A step up from the Buds4’s IP54: rated for 1 metre of fresh water for 30 minutes. The charging case is still not rated, which Samsung states explicitly.
Bluetooth 6.1 with LE Audio and Auracast
Carried over from the Buds4 and still ahead of most of the market. Codecs are SSC HiFi, SSC-UHQ at 24-bit / 96 kHz, AAC, SBC and LC3.
Six hours a bud with ANC on
6 hours per bud with noise cancelling active and 7 with it off, rising to 26 and 30 hours with the case — roughly an hour more per bud than the standard Buds4. The case charges wirelessly. ⚠️ No USB-C cable is included.

Singular Expert Insight
The choice between the Buds4 and the Buds4 Pro is unusually clear-cut, and it is not really about money. The standard Buds4 are open-fit: nothing in your ear canal, all-day comfort, and you hear the room. The Pro are sealed, and everything that follows — the effective noise cancelling, the two-way driver that can actually be heard properly, the IP57 rating — depends on that seal. If you find in-ear buds uncomfortable, no specification here will change your mind and the standard Buds4 are the better purchase. If you want to disappear into your music on a flight or in an open-plan office, this is the one. Two caveats worth carrying into the decision: the case is not water resistant whatever the IP57 on the buds suggests, and for a Cyprus buyer the Galaxy AI translation does not work in Greek — Samsung Greece says so itself. Browse the rest of our true wireless earbuds, or our headphones if you would rather have over-ears.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want serious noise cancelling and the best sound in the Buds4 range, you are comfortable with a sealed in-ear fit, and you use a Galaxy phone.
Skip it if
You dislike the plugged-ear feeling of sealed earbuds — the open-fit Buds4 exist precisely for that — or you use an iPhone and would lose almost every feature.
Also consider
The standard Galaxy Buds4 for an open-fit, unsealed alternative, or over-ear headphones if isolation matters more than pocketability.
