SanDisk Cruzer Blade 16 GB Red — 41.5 mm, 3 g, USB 2.0

16 GBUSB 2.0, Type-A41.5 x 17.6 x 7.4 mm3 g

The SanDisk Cruzer Blade is a 16 GB USB 2.0 flash drive in a slim red body, 41.5 x 17.6 x 7.4 mm and 3 g. It is one of the longest-serving flash drives on the market — a plain, small, inexpensive stick for carrying documents and photographs between computers, backed by SanDisk’s name.

Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive with no USB-C connector and no adapter in the pack, so it will not enter a phone, a tablet or a USB-C-only laptop. Red is the standard Cruzer Blade colour and SanDisk publishes it for this exact part number. The one exception in the range is SDCZ50C-032G-B35BE in Electric Blue, which exists at 32 GB only — note the extra C after SDCZ50 and the BE at the end. Everything else SanDisk publishes (SDCZ50-016G-B35, -032G-, -064G-, -128G-) is red. The green, pink, 4 GB and 8 GB Cruzer Blades that circulate at some resellers are not published by SanDisk on either of its current product pages, and we do not carry claims about them. Two honest gaps. SanDisk publishes no read or write speed for the Cruzer Blade at any capacity — not on the European page, not on the global one — so no MB/s figure appears here. And it publishes no material and no cap or keyring description either. What is certain is the bus: USB 2.0, which caps this drive well below any USB 3.2 stick. Note also that 16 GB is the smallest capacity SanDisk still publishes for the Blade.

Best For

✓ Documents, spreadsheets and photographs, where 16 GB is genuinely enough
✓ Buying several at once where price matters more than transfer time
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports, including older ones
✓ Equipment that predates USB 3 and prefers a plain USB 2.0 device
✓ Handing files to someone who will keep the drive
✓ A small, light stick at 3 g that disappears in a pocket

Key Features

3 grams, 41.5 millimetres
Small and light even by flash-drive standards. Short enough not to foul the neighbouring port on a crowded laptop.

Red, and SanDisk says so
SanDisk publishes red for this part number, which is unusual — most makers leave colour to the reseller. If you are colour-coding drives across a team, that certainty is worth something.

A drive people recognise
The Cruzer Blade has been in production for many years. That is not a performance claim, but it does mean a known brand, published dimensions and a real warranty behind an inexpensive stick.

USB 2.0 — works in anything
A USB 2.0 device plugs into every machine ever built with a USB port, including older equipment that can be fussy about USB 3 devices.

Manufacturer Term SanDisk publishes two different terms for this drive: its European page states a 5-Year Limited Warranty and its global page a 2-Year Limited Warranty, and neither has been withdrawn. For a purchase in Cyprus the European document is the applicable one. Singular’s direct warranty is 1 year; beyond that we assist you with the manufacturer’s warranty process for its full duration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast is it?
SanDisk does not say. It publishes no read or write figure for the Cruzer Blade on either its European or its global page, so we do not print one. What is certain is that this is USB 2.0, which is meaningfully slower than any USB 3.2 Gen 1 drive whatever the exact number. For documents and photographs it is fine; for video it is a wait.
Why do you mention two different warranty periods?
Because SanDisk publishes two. Its European page for this part number states a 5-Year Limited Warranty; its global page states 2 years. Neither has been withdrawn, so rather than choose the flattering one we show both and note that the European document is the one that applies to a purchase in Cyprus. Your cover with us is the Singular warranty in the specification above, and we handle any claim ourselves.
Is 16 GB enough?
For documents, spreadsheets, presentations and a few hundred photographs, comfortably. For video, a phone backup or a set of large installers, no — and the 32, 64 and 128 GB Blades cost very little more. Tell us what you are carrying and we will say which size makes sense.
Is there a blue one?
Yes, but only at 32 GB, and it is a different part number: SDCZ50C-032G-B35BE. Note the extra C and the BE. Every other published Cruzer Blade is red.
Singular Expert Insight
The Cruzer Blade is the definition of a default: small, cheap, red, from a brand people trust, and around long enough that most drawers already contain one. Judged today its limitation is plain — USB 2.0 with no published speed at all, which means you are buying on brand and price rather than on numbers. At 16 GB it is squarely a document drive; if you are thinking about photographs in quantity or anything video, step up a size or two, because the price difference is small. If speed matters, the USB 3.2 Gen 1 drives in our USB flash drives range cost little more and several of them publish figures you can actually compare. For large working files, an external SSD is the right class of product.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want a small, cheap, recognisable 16 GB stick for documents, and transfer time is not what you are optimising for.

Skip it if

You move video or large files — USB 2.0 is the wrong bus for that, and 16 GB is the wrong size. Or you want a published speed figure.

Also consider

The 32, 64 or 128 GB Cruzer Blade if 16 GB is tight. SanDisk Cruzer Blade SDCZ50C-032G-B35BE for the Electric Blue version. Any USB 3.2 Gen 1 drive if speed matters.
