SanDisk Extreme 256GB microSDXC — 190 MB/s read, 130 MB/s write, A2
130 MB/s write190 MB/s readA2 · U3 · V30SD adapter included
The SanDisk Extreme 256GB microSDXC card, part number SDSQXAV-256G-GN6MA, is the fast small card in SanDisk range: 190 MB/s read, 130 MB/s write, with A2, U3 and V30 ratings and a full-size SD adapter in the box. It is built for action cameras, drones, handheld consoles and Android phones — anywhere a card has to record 4K without dropping frames and load apps without stuttering.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is the small microSD card. The included SD adapter lets it work in a full-size SD slot as well, so one card covers a drone and a camera. The A2 rating only does anything on a host that supports A2 — on other devices the card still works but behaves like an A1 card. Read speeds above about 100 MB/s need a reader built for SanDisk faster transfer mode: in a phone, a Switch, a Steam Deck or a generic reader, expect roughly 100 MB/s rather than 190. The 130 MB/s write inside a camera is unaffected. In the box: the card and the SD adapter — no reader and no case.
Best For
✓ 4K action cameras and drones
✓ Android phones that run apps from the card
✓ Handheld gaming consoles and retro handhelds
✓ Dashcams needing headroom rather than endurance rating
✓ Filling one large card instead of several small ones
✓ Photographers wanting one card for camera and drone
Key Features
130 MB/s write, which is what keeps a camera recording
Read speed decides how fast you offload. Write speed decides whether the recording survives. At 130 MB/s this card sits far above the 30 MB/s that V30 guarantees, so 4K at 100 Mbps has a wide margin even on long takes in heat.
A2 changes how Android feels, not how video records
A2 specifies minimum random read and write performance, which is what matters when an app loads from the card rather than when a video streams to it. On an A2-capable Android phone that is the difference between apps launching promptly and hesitating. On a device that does not support A2, the card falls back to A1 behaviour and nothing breaks.
SD adapter included, so one card covers two slots
The full-size adapter in the box turns this into a standard SD card for a camera or a laptop slot. It is a passive shell — it changes nothing about speed — but it means a drone card and a camera card can be the same card.
Rated for the outdoors, where these cards live
Temperature-proof, waterproof, shockproof, X-ray-proof and magnet-proof, from -25 to 85 degrees Celsius. That is the environment an action camera actually sees. It protects the card rather than the footage, so copy anything irreplaceable off it the same day.

Singular Expert Insight
The Extreme microSD is the card we recommend for anything that moves — drones, action cameras, handhelds — because the 130 MB/s write and the V30 floor are what stop a recording failing, and the included adapter means the same card drops into a camera afterwards. The number to treat carefully is 190 MB/s: it belongs to SanDisk own reader mode, not to your phone or your console, and a customer who expects it in a Switch will be disappointed by a card that is doing nothing wrong. If you want the extra 10 MB/s of read and write, the Extreme PRO SDSQXCD is the same card family one rung up. Browse the rest of our memory cards or a card reader that can actually deliver the full read speed.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need a fast 256 GB microSD for a drone, action camera, handheld console or an Android phone that runs apps from the card. A2, U3 and V30 with 130 MB/s write cover all of those, and the SD adapter is included.
Skip it if
Your device only ever records Full HD or stores files — the cheaper Ultra microSD is enough. Skip it too for continuous dashcam or security recording, where the High Endurance and MAX Endurance cards are designed for constant overwriting.
Also consider
The Extreme PRO 256 GB, SDSQXCD, reads 200 and writes 140. For a dashcam, the High Endurance SDSQQNR or MAX Endurance SDSQQVR are the right lines instead.
