SanDisk Extreme 64 GB SDXC — V30, 80 MB/s write

80 MB/s writeV30 and U3170 MB/s readFull-size SD

The SanDisk Extreme is a 64 GB full-size SDXC UHS-I card for cameras, part number SDSDXV2-064G-GNCIN. The figure that decides whether a camera keeps recording or stalls is the write speed, and SanDisk publishes 80 MB/s here. Reads come off at up to 170 MB/s, which is what makes emptying a full card onto a computer quick. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a full-size SD card — it will not fit a phone or an action camera that takes microSD. At 64 GB it is an SDXC card, so the camera or reader has to support SDXC; almost everything from the last decade does, but a very old SDHC-only body will reject it. It is V30 and U3, which satisfies cameras asking for V30; it is not V60 or V90, so a body demanding those for high-bitrate 4K or 6K needs a UHS-II card. On the 170 MB/s: that is above the ordinary UHS-I limit of 104 MB/s and needs a reader built for it, which is not in the box.

Best For

✓ 4K and Full HD video in a DSLR or mirrorless camera
✓ Burst shooting where the camera buffer has to clear quickly
✓ Wedding, event and sports photography
✓ Cameras whose manual specifies V30 or U3
✓ Shooting outdoors in cold, wet or dusty conditions
✓ A card that will not stall halfway through a recording

Key Features

A published write speed — 80 MB/s
Write speed is what a recording camera depends on, and it is what SanDisk refuses to state for its cheaper Ultra range. At 80 MB/s this card has real margin over the 30 MB/s floor that V30 requires.

V30 and U3 rated
Enough sustained speed for 4K recording on any camera asking for V30. It is not V60 or V90 — worth checking your camera manual if it shoots high-bitrate 4K or 6K.

170 MB/s read, with a caveat
That figure is above the standard UHS-I ceiling of 104 MB/s, and SanDisk says openly that reaching it needs a reader built for these speeds. No reader is included, so in an ordinary one expect roughly 100 MB/s. Your camera is unaffected — it is the write speed that matters there.

Built for the outdoors
SanDisk publishes temperature-proof, waterproof, shock-proof and X-ray-proof claims and rates the card from -25 to 85 °C. SanDisk cites no formal test standard for those claims, so read them as ruggedness rather than certification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this SDHC or SDXC?
SDXC. Any card above 32 GB is SDXC by the SD Association’s own definition, and at 64 GB this one is. It matters because a very old camera that only supports SDHC will read a 32 GB card and refuse this one — tell us the model and we will check.
Will I really get 170 MB/s?
Only with a reader built for it. The ordinary UHS-I bus caps at 104 MB/s and SanDisk says openly that the higher figure needs compatible hardware, which is not in the box. In a normal reader expect around 100 MB/s. The 80 MB/s write, which is what your camera relies on, is unaffected.
Can I record 4K on it?
Yes, for any camera asking for V30 or U3. At 80 MB/s write it has comfortable margin over the 30 MB/s V30 floor. It is not V60 or V90, so a camera demanding those needs a UHS-II card.
How is this different from a SanDisk Ultra SD card?
The Ultra publishes no write speed and no video class at all. This one publishes 80 MB/s write and a V30 rating. For a compact camera shooting stills the Ultra is fine; for video, this is the card.
Singular Expert Insight
At 64 GB this is the sensible working card for a stills and video body: 80 MB/s write clears a burst, V30 covers 4K, and 64 GB is enough for a day without being so large that losing one card loses everything. Against a SanDisk Ultra from our SD cards range the difference is that this card actually publishes a write speed, which is the number a camera lives on. One practical point worth money: the 170 MB/s read only appears with a reader built for it, so if unloading cards is your bottleneck, a proper reader from our card readers range will change your day more than a faster card would.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

Your camera manual asks for a V30 or U3 card, you record 4K or shoot bursts, and you want a published write speed rather than a guess.

Skip it if

You only need storage for a phone, a dashcam or a games console, or your camera demands V60 or V90, which needs a UHS-II card.

Also consider

SanDisk Extreme PRO 64GB for a 200 MB/s read and 90 MB/s write, or a larger Extreme if 64 GB fills too quickly at 4K.
