SanDisk Ultra 512GB microSDXC — 150 MB/s read, A1, SD adapter included

512 GB150 MB/s readA1 app ratingSD adapter included

The SanDisk Ultra 512GB microSDXC card, part number SDSQUAC-512G-GN6MA, is the large everyday card in SanDisk range: 150 MB/s read, Class 10, U1 and an A1 app rating, with a full-size SD adapter in the box. It is the card for an Android phone, a tablet, a handheld or anything that mostly stores files and records Full HD, where capacity matters more than burst speed.

Compatibility — check before buying:
A1 is the rating that separates this from the cheaper Ultra cards. SanDisk sells two Ultra microSD lines: this one, which publishes A1, and the SDSQUNR line, which publishes no app rating at all. A1 is what lets Android run apps from the card at a guaranteed minimum. SanDisk publishes no write speed for this line, so if you are buying for continuous recording or 4K bursts, this is not the card — the Extreme line states its write figure and this one does not. A full-size SD adapter is included. In the box: the card and the SD adapter.

Best For

✓ Android phones and tablets with a card slot
✓ Storing photos, music and offline video
✓ Handhelds and retro gaming devices
✓ Full HD video recording
✓ One large card instead of several small ones
✓ Devices where A1 app performance matters

Key Features

A1 keeps apps responsive from the card
A1 guarantees a minimum of 1,500 random read and 500 random write operations per second. That is the measurement that decides whether an app installed on the card opens promptly or hesitates. Sequential speed does nothing for this; A1 does, and the cheaper Ultra cards do not carry it.

150 MB/s read at this capacity
This line rises with capacity — 120 MB/s at 32 GB and 150 MB/s at 256 GB and above. The figure on this page is the one SanDisk publishes for 512 GB, not a family headline pulled down from the largest card.

512 GB in real terms
Roughly 100,000 phone photos, or in the region of 35 hours of Full HD video. For most phones and tablets this is more storage than the device itself has, which is the entire point of buying at this capacity.

SD adapter included
The full-size adapter in the box means the same card works in a laptop SD slot or a camera without buying anything extra. It is a passive shell and changes nothing about speed — it changes which slots the card fits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I record 4K video on this card?
SanDisk rates it Class 10 and U1, which guarantees a 10 MB/s sustained write. Most cameras require V30, meaning 30 MB/s, before enabling 4K. Some phones will record 4K on a U1 card and some will refuse or stutter. If 4K matters, the Extreme microSD is the card designed for it.
What is the difference between this Ultra and the cheaper SanDisk Ultra cards?
App rating and adapter. This line publishes A1 and ships with a full-size SD adapter. The SDSQUNR Ultra line publishes 100 MB/s read, no A-class rating at all, and some parts ship without an adapter. If you plan to run Android apps from the card, A1 is the difference that matters.
Why is there no write speed on this page?
Because SanDisk does not publish one for the Ultra microSD line at any capacity, and we do not invent figures. If write speed matters to what you are doing, choose a card whose maker states it — in this range that means the Extreme, Extreme PRO or the endurance lines.
Will 512 GB work in my phone?
Almost certainly, if the phone has a microSD slot at all. Any device supporting microSDXC handles 512 GB. A handful of older phones cap out at 128 or 256 GB — send us the model and we will check the limit before you order.
Singular Expert Insight
Two things decide whether this is the right card. The first is A1: if you install apps to the card on an Android phone, this line carries the rating and the cheaper SDSQUNR Ultra does not, and that gap is felt every time an app opens. The second is the missing write figure. SanDisk publishes read speed only for the whole Ultra microSD range, and a card with no stated write speed is not a card to trust with 4K or continuous recording — that is what the Extreme and endurance lines are for, and they state their numbers. For storing photos, music and offline video at 512 GB, this is the sensible buy. See the rest of our memory cards or a card reader to move the files across.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want a large card for an Android phone, tablet or handheld, with the A1 rating that keeps apps responsive and a full-size SD adapter included. 512 GB holds roughly 100,000 phone photos.

Skip it if

You need 4K recording or continuous dashcam use — this card is U1 with no published write speed. The Extreme and endurance lines state what they can do; this one does not.

Also consider

The Extreme microSD SDSQXAV publishes 190 MB/s read and 130 MB/s write with A2 and V30. For dashcams, the High Endurance SDSQQNR is the correct line.
