The SKILLER SGP40 is the largest mat in Sharkoon’s current range and it is genuinely desk-sized: 1000 x 500 mm at 3 mm thick, weighing 880 g. That extra 500 mm of depth is what separates it from the usual 400 mm desk mat — keyboard, mouse and both forearms sit on the same surface with room to spare. Sharkoon builds it from a textile top over a hard-wearing non-slip rubber base, finishes the border with DurableStitch sewing, and prints the artwork by dye-sublimation, which puts the design into the fabric rather than on top of it so it does not wear away. The surface is water repellent and Sharkoon describes it as ideal for fast and controlled mouse moves. This one carries the D6 design.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Measure the desk before ordering, because 500 mm of depth is unusual: many desks are only 600 mm deep in total, so this mat will take most of that and hang over the front edge of anything shallower. The width, 1000 mm, covers a full desktop. At 3 mm it lies flat, adds almost no height and gives no cushioning; there is no wrist rest and no lighting. On the surface, read Sharkoon rather than the resellers: it publishes ideal for fast and controlled mouse moves and gives the SGP40 no speed-versus-control classification, so we quote no friction rating. The water-repellent coating buys you time to wipe a spill away; Sharkoon publishes no machine-washing instruction for the SGP40, so do not put it in a machine. The designs in this range are numbered D1 to D11 rather than named, and Sharkoon does not publish an artwork title for any of them.
