The Shuttle XPC slim DS50U5 bundle combines a passively cooled Core i5-1335U barebone with one 8GB DDR5 SO-DIMM supplied separately in the accessory box. Its black 1.3-litre steel chassis offers Gigabit and 2.5GbE networking, three display outputs and a configurable COM port for office, signage, POS and kiosk installations. Install the supplied memory, add suitable storage and an operating system, and complete the configuration for your application.

Compatibility — check before buying:

This is a barebone bundle, not a fully assembled PC. The included 8GB module needs installation; storage, an operating system and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth hardware are not included. DDR5 SO-DIMM is required, not desktop DIMM or DDR4. For two M.2 drives, plan one NVMe SSD and one SATA SSD. The supplied mains lead uses a Schuko plug: check your Cyprus socket arrangement and obtain a suitable approved lead or adapter if required.

The heatpipe cooling system uses no fan, eliminating fan noise. Shuttle approves 24/7 operation when airflow remains unobstructed and any fitted HDD is rated for continuous use. Keep ambient temperature within 0–40°C; above 35°C Shuttle recommends an SSD rather than an HDD.

A useful memory bundle, with room to expand

One 8GB DDR5 SO-DIMM comes loose in the sealed accessory box. The platform has two memory slots, supports DDR5-5200 and up to 96GB total. A suitable second module enables dual-channel operation; the 96GB figure is an upgrade limit, not memory supplied with this bundle.

Digital displays and professional connections

HDMI 2.0b and DisplayPort 1.4 support UHD/4K at 60Hz, while VGA accommodates analogue displays. Up to three independent displays are supported. Eight USB ports, two RJ45 ports and a COM port selectable between RS232, RS422 and RS485 suit peripherals and business equipment.

Choose the storage and wireless setup

Add a 2.5-inch SATA drive up to 9.5mm high, or use the supported NVMe-plus-SATA M.2 combination. An M.2 2230 slot accepts optional WLAN hardware, and the separate WWN04 kit enables mobile-broadband expansion while occupying an M.2 storage position. These accessories and drives are purchased separately.

What Will Not Work

It cannot serve as a ready-to-use desktop before RAM installation, storage and operating-system setup.

Desktop DDR5 DIMMs and DDR4 SO-DIMMs do not fit the DDR5 SO-DIMM slots.

Do not configure two NVMe SSDs: Shuttle lists one NVMe plus one SATA M.2 SSD for two-drive operation.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and mobile broadband require additional compatible hardware.

The optional PCP11 second COM adapter replaces VGA, so that VGA connection is unavailable with this adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the 8GB RAM, SSD and Windows already installed?

No. The bundle includes one 8GB DDR5 SO-DIMM in the sealed accessory box for you to install. No SSD/HDD or operating system is included. Add compatible storage and install a supported OS with any necessary licence.

Does this configuration provide Iris Xe graphics?

The i5-1335U is Iris Xe eligible, but Intel requires 128-bit dual-channel memory for Iris Xe branding. Using only the single bundled module does not provide that configuration; Intel UHD branding applies to single-channel memory. The platform supports a suitable two-module upgrade.

What should I check for a 24/7 installation?

Maintain unrestricted ventilation and the specified 0–40°C ambient range. Use an HDD approved for continuous operation if fitting one; Shuttle recommends SSD storage above 35°C. Check the supplied Schuko mains lead, display connectors and optional wireless/serial accessories before deployment.
