Silex DS-700 — USB 3.0 Gigabit Device Server

The Silex DS-700 (order code E1598) is a USB 3.0 Gigabit USB device server. It connects USB devices such as printers, multifunction printers, scanners, external drives and licence dongles to the network, so Windows PCs can use them as if they were plugged in locally. It has one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port and a 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, and it works through Silex’s SX Virtual Link software, which also supports isochronous transfer for audio and video devices. LPR/RAW printing, device passwords, IP and port filters and an ECO mode are included. In practice it lets a team share one scanner or dongle without moving it between desks.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Windows only. Silex lists Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2025; it states that newer macOS versions will not be supported, and Linux is not listed. USB hubs, devices with built-in hubs and USB display adapters cannot be used on the USB 3.0 port — hubs go on the USB 2.0 port — and only one bus-powered device can run per port.
