Silicon Power Blaze B05 16 GB — Retractable, Matt, One-Handed
16 GBUSB 3.2 Gen 1, Type-ARetractable, no cap5-year Silicon Power warranty
The Silicon Power Blaze B05 is a 16 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive with a retractable connector designed for one-handed operation — push it out with a thumb, push it back when you are done. The surface is matt rather than gloss, which Silicon Power specifies to resist scratches, fingerprints and dirt. It measures 53.9 x 20.0 x 10.0 mm and weighs 9.2 g.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive. The whole Blaze family is Type-A; Silicon Power’s USB-C and phone-facing drives are the separate Mobile C series. It will not enter a phone, tablet or USB-C-only laptop without an adapter, and none is supplied. One honest gap: Silicon Power publishes no read or write speed for the Blaze B05. Its own specification table shows n/a at 8, 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB alike, so no figure appears on this page, and any MB/s number quoted elsewhere did not come from the manufacturer. That is worth knowing because two of its stablemates do publish, and at this same 16 GB the difference is stark: the Blaze B30 and Blaze B50 are stated at 90 MB/s read but only 12 MB/s write at 16 GB, against 25 MB/s at 32 GB. Small drives in that family are genuinely slower to write, and Silicon Power says so — which is exactly the kind of detail the B05’s blank specification hides. On colour: Silicon Power lists the B05 in black, blue and peach and publishes no part-number key, so the shade comes from the supplier code rather than a published legend — our supplier describes this one as navy blue.
Best For
✓ Carrying documents, spreadsheets and presentations, where 16 GB is enough
✓ One-handed use — pushing the connector out without two hands or a cap
✓ Telling drives apart by colour where several circulate in one office
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports
✓ A drive that will not lose a cap in a bag
✓ Buyers who value a five-year manufacturer term
Key Features
Retractable, one-handed
Silicon Power designs the slider specifically for one-handed operation. There is no cap, so nothing detaches and nothing needs a second hand.
Matt surface
Specified to resist scratches, fingerprints and dirt. A small thing, but it is the difference between a drive that still looks new after a year in a pocket and one that does not.
Blue, and that is useful
Functionally identical to the black version. Where several sticks live in the same drawer or the same office, a colour difference saves more time than it sounds like it should.
Free SP Widget
Backup, restore, AES 256-bit file encryption and cloud storage, as a free download for the computer. The drive itself needs nothing installed and has no hardware encryption.

Singular Expert Insight
The B05 is a straightforward, well-made everyday stick: a proper retractable slider you can work with one hand, a matt finish that stays looking decent, and five years of manufacturer cover. The blue makes it easier to find in a drawer than the tenth black stick. What it does not give you is a number — and at 16 GB that absence matters more than usual, because in the sibling ranges where Silicon Power does publish, the smallest drives write at half the speed of the 32 GB. If you compare on paper, buy a Blaze B30 or B50; if 16 GB is simply what you need for documents and the five-year term appeals, this is a perfectly sensible stick. All sit in our USB flash drives range. For large working files, an external SSD is the right class of product.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a conventional 16 GB USB-A stick with a one-handed retractable slider and a matt finish, in blue, with five years of cover.
Skip it if
You compare drives by published speeds, or you are worried about write speed at a small capacity — nothing is published here either way.
Also consider
Silicon Power Blaze B30 or B50 for measured per-capacity figures. The 32 GB B05 if 16 GB is tight. Silicon Power Mobile C31 if you need a USB-C end.
