Silicon Power Ultima U02 16 GB — Hairline Black, Strap Hole, USB 2.0

16 GBUSB 2.0, Type-AStrap hole for keys5-year Silicon Power warranty

The Silicon Power Ultima U02 is a 16 GB USB 2.0 flash drive in a slim black plastic body finished to look like hairline-brushed steel, with a strap hole moulded into the end. It measures 60.6 x 18.0 x 8.1 mm and weighs 8 g. Silicon Power covers it for five years, which is unusually long for a drive on this bus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
???? The Ultima U02 and the Blaze B02 are the same body with different insides. Both are 60.6 x 18.0 x 8.1 mm, 8 g, black plastic with a hairline finish and a strap hole — you cannot tell them apart in a photograph. The difference is the bus: SP016GBUF2U02V1K, this drive, is USB 2.0; SP016GBUF3B02V1K is USB 3.2 Gen 1. Four characters in the middle of the part number, and a generation of performance between them. If you are ordering to match drives you already have, check those characters rather than the photograph. This is also a USB Type-A drive — no USB-C, no adapter in the pack, so it will not enter a phone. One honest gap: Silicon Power publishes no read or write speed for the Ultima U02 at any capacity — its table reads n/a at 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 GB alike. What is certain is the ceiling: USB 2.0 is meaningfully slower than any USB 3.2 drive whatever the exact figure.

Best For

✓ Documents, spreadsheets and presentations, where 16 GB is enough
✓ Older machines and equipment that predate USB 3
✓ Carrying on keys or clipped to a bag — the strap hole is moulded in
✓ Buying several at once where price matters more than transfer time
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports
✓ Buyers who want a five-year manufacturer term at a low price

Key Features

Five years, on a USB 2.0 drive
Silicon Power covers the Ultima U02 for five years — the same term as its USB 3.2 drives, and far longer than most sticks at this price carry. That is the most unusual thing about it.

Hairline finish
A brushed-steel look in a plastic body. Purely cosmetic, but it is the reason the U02 does not look like the cheapest thing in the drawer.

Strap hole moulded in
Designed into the body so the drive can go on a key ring or a bag. Note that no strap or ring is supplied — the hole is there, the hardware is not.

Works everywhere
Silicon Power lists Windows 11 down to XP, Mac OS 10.3.x and later, and Linux 2.6.x and later. A USB 2.0 device also plugs into older equipment that can be fussy about USB 3 devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I tell this apart from the Blaze B02?
Only by the part number — the two drives are physically identical. 2U02 in the middle means USB 2.0; 3B02 means USB 3.2 Gen 1. Same size, same weight, same finish, same strap hole. If speed matters at all, you want the B02.
Why is no transfer speed shown?
Because Silicon Power publishes none for the Ultima U02. Its own specification table reads n/a for read and write at every capacity in the family. We would rather leave the line honest than borrow a number from a reseller. What is certain is the bus ceiling: USB 2.0.
Is a strap or keyring included?
No. There is a strap hole in the body for one, but Silicon Power does not supply a strap or a ring in the pack.
Is a five-year warranty normal on a drive this cheap?
No, and it is the main reason to look at this one. Most USB 2.0 sticks at this price carry one or two years, or no stated term at all. Silicon Power gives the Ultima U02 the same five years as its faster drives.
Singular Expert Insight
The Ultima U02 is a plain USB 2.0 stick with one genuinely unusual feature: five years of manufacturer cover, the same as Silicon Power gives its USB 3.2 drives. Everything else about it is ordinary, and the bus is the limitation — no published speed, and USB 2.0 sets the ceiling regardless. The thing to be careful about is that it is visually indistinguishable from the Blaze B02, which is the same shell on USB 3.2 Gen 1 for modestly more money. For most buyers that is the better drive; choose the U02 when the price gap matters or when the machine it is going into genuinely predates USB 3. Both sit in our USB flash drives range. For large working files, an external SSD is the right class of product.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want a cheap 16 GB USB-A stick with a strap hole and an unusually long five-year term, and USB 2.0 speed is genuinely fine for what you carry.

Skip it if

Transfer time matters — the Blaze B02 is the same body on USB 3.2 Gen 1. Or you need a USB-C connector, or more than 16 GB.

Also consider

Silicon Power Blaze B02 — the identical body on USB 3.2 Gen 1. The 32 GB or 64 GB Ultima U02 if 16 GB is tight. Any USB-C drive if a phone is involved.
