The STAEDTLER Mixed Set #6 (61 3001-2) is an 11-piece hand-lettering and watercolour set built around six double-ended 3001 watercolour brush pens, for hobby letterers, students and anyone making cards, journals and lettering pieces with soft watercolour effects.
STAEDTLER combines the brush pens with a 308 pigment liner and an 8321 metallic brush pen for outlines and highlights, a Mars Lumograph 2B pencil for guidelines, a 949 water brush to blend the colours, and an art eraser — so the box covers the whole process from sketch to finished lettering.
Before you order: For the watercolour effect you need watercolour or mixed-media paper; on thin copy paper the water will cockle the sheet. Paper is not included.

What It Means in Practice
- Sketch baselines and letter shapes lightly with the 2B pencil, then remove them with the art eraser once the ink is dry.
- Letter with the brush tip of the 3001 pens, then pull the colour out with the water brush to create washes and gradients — STAEDTLER states the 3001 gives watercolour effects on most watercolour papers.
- Use the 308 pigment liner for outlines and fine details and the 8321 metallic pen for accents that catch the light.
- The window gift box can hang on a retail hook or be given as a present without extra wrapping.
What Will Not Work
- Painting on ordinary printer paper: water-soluble ink needs heavier watercolour or mixed-media paper.
- A full watercolour palette: the set contains six brush-pen colours, not a pan set or tubes.
- Permanent, waterproof outdoor lettering: the brush-pen ink is water-soluble by design.
