STAEDTLER Mars Lumograph digital — EMR Stylus Pencil (180 22-3)
EMR technology4,096 pressure levelsNo charging, no pairing5 spare nibs
The STAEDTLER Mars Lumograph digital (180 22-3) is an EMR stylus built in the shape and feel of the classic Mars Lumograph wooden pencil, for writing and drawing on tablets, e-readers and notebooks that have a built-in EMR (electromagnetic resonance) digitizer.
Because EMR draws its power from the device’s screen, the pen needs no battery, no charging and no Bluetooth pairing — pick it up and write. It offers 4,096 pressure levels for line-width control and works with palm rejection where the device supports it. The hexagonal wooden body (PEFC-certified wood) is made in Germany.
Before you order: Works ONLY on devices with an EMR digitizer — for example many Samsung Galaxy Tab/Note models with S Pen support, Wacom, Amazon Kindle Scribe, reMarkable, and some Lenovo, Onyx, PocketBook and other e-ink devices. It does NOT work on Apple iPad or Pixelbook. Some models exist with and without EMR — check your exact model or ask us.
What's in the Box
- 1 × STAEDTLER Mars Lumograph digital stylus pencil
- 5 × replacement nibs
- 1 × nib removal tool
What It Means in Practice
- Feels like a real pencil — hexagonal wooden body instead of a plastic stylus
- No battery means it never runs flat and never needs pairing
- Pressure sensitivity gives natural line variation in notes and sketches
- Spare nibs and tool included, so a worn tip is a 10-second fix
What Will Not Work
- Apple iPad, Apple Pencil-based apps or Pixelbook — not EMR
- Capacitive-only phones and tablets without an EMR layer
- Active (battery/Bluetooth) stylus systems such as Microsoft Pen Protocol devices without EMR
- Erasing with the back end — this model has no eraser (the jumbo 180J 22-3 has one)
