StarTech.com 3-in-1 Universal Master Keyed Laptop Lock, 2 m
Master keyedK-Slot · Nano · Wedge2 m steel cablePull force up to 98.8 kg
The StarTech.com UNIVKMKO-LAPTOP-LOCK is a master keyed 3-in-1 universal laptop lock that fits the standard K-Slot, the Nano Slot and the Noble Wedge slot from one lock head, with a 2 m cut-resistant carbon steel cable for securing laptops, monitors, docks and lab equipment in offices, schools and shared workspaces.
It is built for organisations that deploy locks in volume: each user gets their own two keys, while IT can request a master key that opens every lock in the master keyed system. You change slot type with a dial on the head, so the same lock follows the user from one laptop brand to the next.
Before you order: One lock covers three slot types, selected with the rotating dial on the lock head: the standard Kensington K-Slot (T-bar), the Kensington Nano Slot and the Noble Wedge slot. Pull resistance is highest on K-Slot and Nano and lower on Wedge, and may be lower again on slots that do not follow the slot designer standard.
What's in the Box
- 1 x 3-in-1 universal laptop lock with 2 m cable
- 2 x keys
- 3 x spacers
- 1 x hook-and-loop strap
- 1 x quick start guide
What It Means in Practice
- Users keep their own keys, IT keeps the master key: no cut cables when a user leaves or loses a key.
- The dial on the 14 mm lock head switches between K-Slot, Nano and Noble Wedge, so one SKU suits HP, Dell, Lenovo and Microsoft devices with any of the three slots.
- The head sits on a 360° ball joint with a 90° pivoting elbow, so the cable can exit in the direction of the desk anchor without stressing the slot.
- The supplied spacers adjust the fit for devices with a recessed or thicker chassis around the slot.
What Will Not Work
- The master key is not in the box. StarTech.com supplies it on request with proof of purchase, so plan it into your rollout.
- Devices with no security slot (many MacBooks and most tablets) need an adhesive anchor plate or bracket.
- Bolt-cutter or prolonged forced attack. A cable lock deters opportunistic theft; it is not a safe.
- Proprietary or non-standard slots may not reach the published pull force.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do we get the master key?
StarTech.com provides it on request with proof of purchase. Order all locks for the same master keyed system together and ask us to arrange the master key with the order.
Is it the same lock as the combination version?
No. UNIVC4D-LAPTOP-LOCK is the keyless combination version. Do not mix them up if IT needs master key access.
Will it fit a monitor or docking station?
Yes, if the device has a K-Slot, Nano or Noble Wedge slot.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Choose the master keyed version when locks are managed centrally and you want to avoid cutting cables when keys get lost. In a hot-desk setup, locking the
docking station or monitor at each desk and giving users their own lock for the laptop is a common split.
✓ Buy it if you deploy locks at scale and IT needs one master key across mixed K-Slot, Nano and Wedge devices.
✕ Skip it if you only need one or two locks and prefer a keyless combination lock.
→ Also consider StarTech.com UNIVC4D-LAPTOP-LOCK, the combination version of this 3-in-1 lock.
Send us the laptop, monitor or dock model and we will confirm which slot it has before you order.
