The StarTech.com CPANEL48 is a 48-port Cat 6 unshielded 19-inch 2U patch panel in black. It mounts in a 19-inch rack or cabinet and takes up 2U. Installation cable is punched down on the back with a 110 punch-down tool, and the 48 RJ45 sockets on the front take ordinary patch cords, rated for Gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T). In practice it gives the cables coming from wall outlets and ceilings a fixed, labelled end point next to your switch, so that moves and changes are made with short patch cords at the panel instead of re-terminating installation cable. If you are planning a new rack, send us the number of outlets and the switch you use — we check that panel, cable and patch cords match before you order.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It is 2U high and UTP Cat6 with a 1 Gbps maximum — not a Cat6A panel; the 24-port 1U version is C6PANEL24. The ports are fixed and terminated with a 110 punch-down tool, which is not in the box. It is unshielded (UTP): use it with U/UTP cable, not in a shielded (STP/FTP) installation. It needs a standard 19-inch rack or cabinet with 2U free. Not sure it matches your cabling?
