StarTech.com Premium Certified HDMI 2.0 Cable — 2.4 m, 4K 60Hz, 18 Gbps, HDR10 and ARC
Premium Certified HDMI18 Gbps, 4K 60Hz1440p 144Hz / 1080p 240HzLifetime warranty
The StarTech.com Premium Certified High Speed HDMI Cable, product ID HDMI2-CABLE-4K60-8F, is a 2.4 m (8 ft) black HDMI 2.0 lead that carries the one thing a spec sheet cannot fake: Premium HDMI Cable Certification. That is a per-cable test programme run by the HDMI Licensing Administrator, and it is what guarantees the full 18 Gbps bandwidth in practice rather than on the packaging. It delivers 4K at 60 Hz, 1440p at 144 Hz and 1080p at 240 Hz, with HDR10, HDCP 2.2, ARC, CEC, HDMI Ethernet and 32-channel audio. Construction is 30 AWG with an aluminium-mylar foil and braided shield, a halogen-free TPE jacket and gold-plated connectors rated beyond 10,000 insertions, tested to 2,000 bending cycles at ±60°. StarTech.com backs it with a lifetime warranty. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is an HDMI 2.0 cable at 18 Gbps, which is the correct and sufficient specification for 4K 60 Hz with HDR10. It is not an HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed cable: 4K 120 Hz, 8K 60 Hz, 48 Gbps, VRR and Dynamic HDR are outside its rating, so if you are cabling a PS5, an Xbox Series X or a 120 Hz TV for their full capability, buy a certified 48 Gbps cable instead. It is a passive cable and it is backward compatible with earlier HDMI versions. The connectors carry performance markings so you can identify the cable at a glance in a bundle. Operating range is 0 °C to 40 °C at 10–90% RH.
Key Features
Premium HDMI Cable Certification, not a claim on a box
Premium Certification means the cable was tested and licensed under the HDMI Licensing Administrator programme for guaranteed 18 Gbps performance and EMI compliance. Uncertified 4K cables are the single most common cause of the intermittent black-screen and sparkle faults that get blamed on the display or the source.
Full 18 Gbps: 4K 60Hz, 1440p 144Hz, 1080p 240Hz
Enough bandwidth for 4K 60 Hz with HDR10 and 4:4:4 chroma, and enough for high-refresh gaming at 1440p and 1080p. That covers current UHD TVs, monitors, consoles and workstation GPUs running at HDMI 2.0 rates.
Gold-plated connectors rated beyond 10,000 insertions
Gold resists the corrosion that makes an HDMI contact intermittent over time, and the 10,000-insertion rating matters where the cable is repeatedly swapped — a meeting room, a test bench, a demo rig — rather than plugged in once behind a TV.
Halogen-free TPE jacket, 2,000 bending cycles
TPE stays flexible and does not take a set the way PVC does, and StarTech.com tests it to 2,000 bends at ±60°. It is halogen-free and RoHS compliant, so it is also acceptable where low-smoke material is preferred.
Aluminium-mylar foil with braided shield
Two shield layers over 30 AWG conductors. At 18 Gbps the failure mode is not a dead cable but a marginal one — sparkles, dropouts, HDCP handshake failures — and shielding is what keeps the link clean when the cable runs beside power leads behind a desk or a TV.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this run 4K at 120 Hz or 8K?
No. This is an 18 Gbps HDMI 2.0 cable, certified for 4K 60 Hz. 4K 120 Hz and 8K need HDMI 2.1 bandwidth — 48 Gbps — and an Ultra High Speed certified cable. If your TV, console or GPU supports those modes and you want them, this is the wrong cable and no amount of quality in an 18 Gbps lead changes that.
What does Premium Certified actually mean?
It is a test and licensing programme run by the HDMI Licensing Administrator. Cables are tested for full 18 Gbps bandwidth and EMI compliance and carry an anti-counterfeiting label. It is the only meaningful way to know a 4K cable will hold up, because there is no visible difference between a cable that certifies and one that produces sparkles at 4K 60 Hz.
Does it support HDR and Dolby Atmos?
HDR10 yes, and the 32-channel audio capability covers Dolby Atmos and DTS:X bitstreams from a source to an AV receiver or via ARC to a soundbar. Dynamic HDR formats that depend on HDMI 2.1 signalling are outside this cable’s specification.
Is there a difference between HDMI cables at all?
At 1080p, honestly very little. At 4K 60 Hz with HDR there is a real and repeatable difference, and it shows up as intermittent faults rather than a clean failure: momentary black frames, sparkling pixels, handshake failures on wake. Certification and shielding are what remove that class of fault.
Singular Expert Insight
HDMI cables attract more nonsense than any other accessory, so it is worth being precise about where the money goes. Below 4K, the difference between a good cable and a cheap one is close to nothing. At 4K 60 Hz with HDR, 18 Gbps is genuinely close to the limit of what passive copper does reliably, and the failure mode is not a dead picture — it is sparkles, dropped frames and HDCP handshakes that fail when you wake the display. Premium Certification exists precisely to remove that uncertainty, and it is the one specification on this cable worth paying for. The other thing to get right is the version: this is HDMI 2.0 at 18 Gbps, which is correct for 4K 60 Hz and wrong for 4K 120 Hz or 8K. Browse our
PC monitors range for the displays this cable feeds, and see our
docking stations section for 4K docks with HDMI outputs.
Buyer's Guide
Buy it if
You are connecting a 4K 60 Hz display, TV, console or GPU over HDMI 2.0 and want a certified cable that will not produce intermittent sparkles or handshake failures.
Skip it if
You need 4K 120 Hz, 8K or VRR — that requires a 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed cable. Also skip it for runs long enough to need an active or optical cable.
Also consider
HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed cables for 4K 120 Hz and 8K, other lengths of this same Premium Certified HDMI 2.0 cable, or DisplayPort cables where the source and display both offer DP.
