StarTech.com CC2M20GUSB4TP — 2 m USB4 20Gbps Cable with 240W Charging
USB4 20Gbps · USB-IF240W PD 3.1 EPR4K 120Hz · DP 2.12 m · Black
The StarTech.com CC2M20GUSB4TP is a 2 m USB-C to USB-C USB4 cable, USB-IF certified for 20Gbps data, 240W Extended Power Range charging and 4K 120Hz DisplayPort video, for laptops, USB-C monitors, docks and external drives that sit a little further away.
Two metres is the length that reaches a floor-standing charger, a monitor on an arm or a dock at the back of the desk without pulling on the laptop port. The e-marker chip lets PD 3.1 EPR chargers deliver up to 240W, and the cable is rated for more than 10,000 insertions, so it suits a hot-desk or meeting-room station that gets plugged and unplugged every day.
Before you order: 20Gbps is this cable's data ceiling. It is a good charging and single-monitor cable, but for 40Gbps Thunderbolt/USB4 docks or NVMe SSD enclosures choose a 40Gbps or 80Gbps cable instead.
What's in the Box
- 1 × StarTech.com CC2M20GUSB4TP USB4 cable, USB-C male to USB-C male, 2 m, black
What It Means in Practice
- Charging: with a 240W PD 3.1 EPR charger and a laptop that accepts EPR the cable carries up to 240W; with a 65W–140W charger it carries what the charger and laptop agree on.
- Display: one monitor at up to 4K 120Hz, or two 4K 60Hz screens through a dock, over DisplayPort 2.1 Alt Mode — if your laptop port outputs DisplayPort.
- Data: up to 20Gbps between USB4 devices; on a 10Gbps USB 3.2 port it runs at 10Gbps, on USB 2.0 at 480Mbps.
- Durability: rated for 10,000+ insertions with nickel-plated connectors and foil plus braid shielding.
What Will Not Work
- It will not run a 40Gbps Thunderbolt or USB4 dock at full bandwidth — expect fewer screens or lower resolutions on such docks.
- It does not connect to HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-A ports; both ends are USB-C.
- It cannot make a USB-C port output video if the port has no DisplayPort Alt Mode, as on many phones and budget laptops.
- It is not an extension cable — there is no female end, and adding a coupler breaks the 240W and USB4 ratings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it with a Thunderbolt laptop?
Yes, for charging, a USB-C monitor and USB-C devices. Data runs at up to 20Gbps, so a Thunderbolt dock that needs 40Gbps will be limited.
Is 2 m too long for 240W?
No. The cable is certified for 240W EPR at its full 2 m length; the e-marker reports that rating to the charger.
Does it carry 4K at 120Hz to any monitor?
To a USB-C/Thunderbolt monitor or DP Alt Mode dock that supports 4K 120Hz, from a laptop port that outputs it. HDMI monitors need an adapter.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Most people do not need 40Gbps from the cable that charges their laptop and drives one monitor. The CC2M20GUSB4TP covers that job with certified 240W charging and 4K 120Hz video at a useful 2 m length. If you plan to run a multi-screen dock, step up to a 40Gbps or 80Gbps cable or one of our
docking stations with its own host cable.
✓ Buy it if you need a certified 2 m USB-C cable for 240W laptop charging and a single 4K monitor.
✕ Skip it if you run a 40Gbps Thunderbolt/USB4 dock or a fast NVMe SSD enclosure — buy an 80Gbps cable such as the StarTech.com CC1M80GUSB4CABLE.
→ Also consider the StarTech.com CC150CM80GUSB4CABLE (1.5 m, 80Gbps) when the dock or SSD needs more bandwidth.
