The StarTech.com ESD-WRIST-STRAP is an antistatic wrist strap with a detachable 1.5 m coiled grounding cord. You wear the adjustable band on your wrist and connect the cord to a grounded point, so static charge from your body drains away safely instead of discharging into the components you touch. The cord has a 1 MΩ resistor, a 10 mm snap at the wrist, a 4 mm banana plug and a spring clip for the ground point. In practice it protects RAM, SSDs, graphics cards, motherboards and other boards from electrostatic damage when you build, upgrade or repair PCs and servers.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The strap only protects when the cord is connected to a real ground: a bare, unpainted metal part of a grounded chassis, a grounded ESD mat or an earth bonding point. Clipping it to a painted surface, plastic or an unplugged device does nothing. The band fits wrists from 14 to 21.6 cm. An ESD mat, a ground plug adapter and a strap tester are not included. Where do I clip it?
