StarTech.com 1U Tool-Less Blanking Panels — 10-Pack for 19" Racks
1U · 10-PackTool-less latchSquare-hole railsABS · Black
The StarTech.com BLANKP10 is a pack of ten 1U blanking panels that snap into the empty spaces of a 19-inch server rack or network cabinet without screws or cage nuts, for anyone who wants a tidier, better-cooled rack.
Empty U spaces let hot exhaust air from the back of the rack circle round to the front and get pulled back into your servers and switches. Filling those gaps with blanking panels forces cool air to go through the equipment instead of around it, which is the cheapest cooling improvement you can make in a rack. The panels also hide cable clutter and stop fingers and tools reaching live equipment through open slots.
Before you order: these panels latch into square mounting holes. If your rack rails have round or threaded holes, the tool-less latch will not grip — tell us your rack model and we will suggest a screw-in panel instead.
What's in the Box
- 10 × 1U blanking panels (ABS plastic, black)
- No screws or cage nuts are needed or supplied — the panels latch directly into the rail
What It Means in Practice
- Each panel covers exactly one rack unit (44.45 mm). For a 3U gap, fit three panels one above the other.
- Installation takes seconds: push the panel into the square holes on both front rails until it clicks. Removal is just as quick, so you can re-plan the rack later without hunting for screws.
- Ten panels in one box usually covers the gaps of a typical half-filled 42U rack; larger rooms often buy several packs to standardise on one look.
- Front-mounted: they close the front face of the rack, which is where the cold aisle and airflow separation matter most.
What Will Not Work
- Racks or wall cabinets with round-hole or threaded (tapped) rails — the latch is made for square holes.
- 10-inch mini racks — the panels are 19-inch wide.
- Gaps smaller than 1U, or half-U offsets between devices — each panel needs a full, empty 1U position.
- They are not a vented or brush panel: they block airflow and cables completely. For cable pass-through use a brush panel instead.
Key Features
No tools, no cage nuts
A built-in latching mechanism holds the panel in the square holes, so you avoid the time and cost of four cage nuts and screws per U.
Better airflow management
Closing empty U spaces stops hot exhaust air recirculating to the front, helping your equipment run cooler.
Light ABS construction
Each panel weighs about 105 g (3.7 oz), so it adds practically no load to the rack rails.
Clean, uniform front
Black finish matches most racks and equipment and hides cabling behind empty slots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a blanking panel in every empty slot?
For proper airflow, yes. Even one open U lets hot air bypass the equipment. Fill every gap on the front rails, especially between active devices.
Can I reuse the panels if I add a new device later?
Yes. They unclip without tools and can be refitted elsewhere in the rack as often as you need.
Will they fit a rack from a different brand?
Most 19-inch racks with square-hole rails to EIA-310 accept them. The brand of the rack does not matter; the hole shape does.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Blanking panels are the cheapest cooling upgrade in any rack: they cost less than a single fan unit and make every existing fan work better. Tool-less panels also save a surprising amount of time compared with screw-in plates, especially when you are filling many gaps. Browse our other
rack accessories for shelves, cable managers and fan units to complete the rack.
✓ Buy it if you have a 19-inch rack with square-hole rails and several empty 1U spaces on the front.
✕ Skip it if your rack has round or threaded holes, or you need cables to pass through the gap.
→ Also consider a brush panel for gaps where cables must pass, or screw-in steel blanking plates for threaded-hole racks.
