The StarTech.com CMVER20UF is a 20U (3 ft) vertical cable organizer with finger ducts and a cover that mounts on the side of a 19-inch rack, for anyone who wants to route patch cords up and down the rack neatly without giving up any rack units.
Horizontal cable managers organise cables across the front of the rack; this vertical duct handles the run between devices. Cables leave a switch or patch panel, pass through the nearest finger opening and travel inside the duct to their destination, and the cover hides everything for a clean front view.
Before you order: it is designed for racks of 20U or taller with keyhole-shaped mounting holes on the horizontal rails, and it mounts on the side of the rack. Leave enough clearance at the side of the rack, especially where racks stand next to each other or against a wall.

What It Means in Practice
- Zero U: it does not use any mounting space inside the rack, so all your U remain available for equipment.
- Covers 20U of height, about 3 ft; on a 42U rack, two organizers stacked cover most of the height.
- Can be mounted at the front or the rear of the rack, depending on where your patching happens.
- Finger ducts let cables enter and exit at every level, so short and long patch cords both stay tidy.
- The cover can be closed for a clean look or left open while you are working on the patching.
What Will Not Work
- Racks under 20U — the organizer is 20U long.
- Racks with no side clearance, for example when pushed tight against a wall or another rack.
- Racks without keyhole-shaped mounting holes on the horizontal rails; fixing may require adaptation.
- Holding heavy cable bundles such as thick power trunks — StarTech does not publish a cable capacity.
