The StarTech.com UNIRAILS1U is a set of 1U universal rack rails with an adjustable mounting depth from 420 mm to 1.1 m and a 25 kg static load rating, for mounting servers, appliances or older OEM equipment whose original rail kit is missing or discontinued.
Instead of relying on a vendor-specific slide kit, the two L-shaped rails fix to the front and rear posts of a 19-inch rack and the equipment rests on them. StarTech states they suit non-rackmount equipment and discontinued OEM gear from brands such as Dell, IBM, HP and Apple. The rear section includes a removable panel for cable management.
Before you order: The rails need both front and rear posts at a spacing between 420 mm and 1.1 m, so they are for 4-post racks and cabinets, not 2-post relay racks.

What It Means in Practice
- The device rests on the rails, so it slides in but is not on ball-bearing slides — you pull it out fully to service it.
- Measure your post-to-post depth before ordering: 420 mm minimum, 1.1 m maximum.
- 25 kg per 1U covers most 1U servers, firewalls and appliances.
- Secure the device front ears to the rack as well, where it has them.
What Will Not Work
- 2-post racks — there is no rear post to fix to.
- Loads above 25 kg.
- Rack depths under 420 mm (shallow wall cabinets).
- Tool-less or ball-bearing slide operation — these are static rails.
