Zebra CBA-U10-S15ZAR — 4.6 m Straight USB Cable for Zebra Scanners
USB-A host plug4.6 m / 15 ft straightShieldedPowered by the host
The Zebra CBA-U10-S15ZAR is a 4.6 m (15 ft) straight, shielded USB cable that connects a Zebra (formerly Symbol/Motorola) handheld barcode scanner to the standard USB-A port of a PC, thin client or POS terminal. It is the long version of Zebra's universal USB scanner cable, meant for counters and workstations where the computer sits far from the scanning point.
Zebra describes it as "Shielded USB: Series A connector, 15 ft (4.6 m), straight, BC 1.2". The scanner takes its power through the USB port, so there is no power supply to buy or plug in, and in USB keyboard (HID) mode most scanners work without installing any driver.
Before you order: This cable plugs into Zebra scanners that use the modular (latching) host port of the universal cable family. It is not for scanners with a fixed, non-removable cable, and not for other brands. Send us your scanner model if unsure.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Zebra USB cable, Series A connector, 4.6 m (15 ft), straight
- No power supply needed and none included
- No drivers or software in the box (USB HID works natively in Windows, macOS, Linux and most POS systems)
What It Means in Practice
- 4.6 m lets you place the PC under the counter or in a back cabinet and still reach the scanning position without an extension cable.
- A straight (not coiled) cable lies flat along a desk or through a cable channel; it does not spring back, so route it so it cannot be pulled by the scanner.
- The scanner is powered by the USB port, so one cable does both data and power.
- Shielding helps in busy environments with POS equipment, cash drawers and other cabling around.
What Will Not Work
- Scanners with a built-in, non-detachable cable.
- Hosts that only have a PoweredUSB 12 V port or a serial COM port — Zebra makes separate PlusPower and RS-232 cables for those.
- Non-Zebra scanners (Honeywell, Datalogic, etc.) — their scanner-end connectors are different.
- USB extension: do not add USB extenders to reach further; a longer run should use a different setup.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the scanner need a separate power supply?
No. With this USB cable the scanner is powered from the computer's USB port.
Is a 15 ft USB cable reliable?
Yes, it is within normal USB cable length and is the length Zebra itself sells for this purpose. Avoid adding a USB extension on top of it.
Can I use it on a POS terminal?
Yes, on any standard USB-A port. If your terminal has the 12 V PoweredUSB port and you want to use that, choose a Zebra PlusPower cable instead.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The 4.6 m CBA-U10-S15ZAR is the cable to pick when the standard 2 m cable leaves the scanner on a short leash — typical in pharmacies, warehouses and counters with the PC under the desk. Browse our
barcode scanners if you also need the scanner itself.
✓ Buy it if you have a Zebra scanner with a detachable cable and the computer is 2–4 m away.
✕ Skip it if the PC is next to the scanner (a 2 m cable is tidier) or the host only has a serial or 12 V PoweredUSB port.
→ Also consider the coiled 2.8 m Zebra CBA-U12-C09ZAR for a stretchy cable at the counter.
Not sure which cable your scanner needs? Send us the scanner model (it is on the label under the scanner) and the port you will plug into, and we will confirm the right cable before you order.
