Targus CityGear 3 Topload Laptop Case — 14″ to 15.6″ with Dome Protection System
Fits 14″ – 15.6″Dome Protection SystemMulti-Fit cradleTrolley strap
The Targus CityGear 3 topload laptop case, part number TCG460GL, is a commuter briefcase for notebooks from 14 to 15.6 inches, with a Multi-Fit cradle that holds different laptop sizes snugly inside the same compartment. Targus builds the case around its Dome Protection System, a set of shock-absorbing layers that spread the pressure of an impact across the laptop and tablet compartments rather than concentrating it in one place. A comfort-padded grab handle, a padded shoulder strap and a trolley pass-through strap cover the three ways most people move a bag, and zipped mesh pockets handle the cables and small items. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Laptop fit: Targus rates this case for 14″ to 15.6″ notebooks on its European and UK sites. The Canadian site lists the same part number as 13″ to 15.6″, so smaller machines will physically fit but sit less snugly in the Multi-Fit cradle. Targus does not publish a maximum laptop thickness or footprint — only the laptop compartment size of 38.7 x 2.5 x 26.5 cm. Dimension conflict: Targus publishes 41 x 10.8 x 31.4 cm on its EU, South African and Canadian sites and 41.5 x 10 x 32 cm on its UK site for the same product. Both are listed below. Not an EcoSmart product: the CityGear 3 line carries no recycled-content claim — if recycled fabric matters to you, look at the Targus Sagano or Cypress EcoSmart ranges instead. Protection: this model uses the Dome Protection System, not SafePort, and Targus publishes no drop-height rating for it.
Best For
✓ Daily commuters carrying a 15.6″ work laptop and a tablet
✓ Travellers who slide the case over a trolley handle
✓ Offices standardising on one case size across several laptop models
✓ Anyone who prefers a briefcase to a backpack
Key Features
Dome Protection System
Shock-absorbing layers sit around the laptop and tablet compartments and dissipate the pressure of a knock across a wider area instead of letting it land on one edge of the machine. Targus does not publish a drop-height figure for this system.
Multi-Fit cradle
The laptop cradle adjusts to hold notebooks between 14 and 15.6 inches without letting a smaller machine slide around, so one case covers a mixed fleet of laptop sizes.
Three ways to carry
A comfort-padded grab handle for short hops, a padded shoulder strap for the commute and a trolley pass-through strap that slides the case over the handle of a wheeled suitcase.
Zipped organisation
Zipped mesh pockets and separate compartments keep chargers, cables, a mouse and documents apart from the laptop. Targus does not publish an itemised pocket list or pocket dimensions for this model.

Singular Expert Insight
The CityGear 3 topload is the sensible middle of the Targus range: not the cheapest slim sleeve, not the premium EcoSmart or Mobile ViP tier, but the one most people end up with because it does the ordinary things well. The Multi-Fit cradle is the feature that earns its keep in an office — it means one case model can be issued across a fleet running 14″ and 15.6″ machines without anything rattling around. Be aware of two data quirks. Targus publishes different external dimensions for the same part number on its UK site versus its EU, South African and Canadian sites, and the Canadian site alone rates the fit as 13″ to 15.6″. Neither is a defect, but if a centimetre matters for a locker or a shelf, plan around the larger figure. The protection here is the Dome Protection System rather than the SafePort suspension used on the travel backpacks, and Targus publishes no drop rating for either. Browse the rest of our laptop cases, and if the case travels with you daily a compact docking station at each end saves carrying cables in it.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You commute with a 14 to 15.6 inch laptop, prefer a briefcase to a backpack, and want a padded case with a trolley pass-through strap and a manufacturer that backs it with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Skip it if
Your laptop is 16 inches or larger, you need a case made from recycled materials, or you require a published drop-protection rating and exact pocket layout before buying.
Also consider
The Targus TCG455GL if your laptop is 12 to 14 inches, or the TCG470GL if you need 15 to 17.3 inches. For recycled materials, look at the Targus Sagano EcoSmart range.
