Targus GeoLite EcoSmart Essentials Backpack
15-16 inch laptop23 L capacity530 g4 recycled bottlesLimited lifetime warranty
GeoLite Essentials is the light end of the Targus EcoSmart family: a plain 23 litre backpack that weighs just over half a kilo empty and takes a 16-inch laptop. Targus builds the interior from recycled bottles and keeps the exterior deliberately simple.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Fits laptops with screens from 15 to 16 inches. External dimensions are 432 x 165 x 330 mm and the empty backpack weighs 0.53 kg.
Best For
✓ Students and commuters who want a light everyday backpack
✓ 16-inch laptop owners on a budget
✓ Buyers who want recycled content without paying a premium
Key Features
Fits laptops up to 16 inches
A padded compartment takes a modern 16-inch machine, which many 15.6-inch-rated bags will not.
Very light 530 g empty weight
At just over half a kilo the bag itself barely registers, leaving the weight budget for what you put in it.
23 litre capacity
Enough for a laptop, charger, lunch and a jacket without the bag becoming a hiking pack.
Interior made from four recycled bottles
Targus states that four recycled water bottles go into the interior of this backpack. There is no recycled-content percentage published for the exterior.
Plain, unbranded styling
A matte black exterior with minimal logos, so it works for a lecture theatre and an office equally well.
Limited lifetime warranty
Targus covers GeoLite with a limited lifetime warranty; at Singular the product carries a 1-Year Warranty (Singular).

Singular Expert Insight
Targus is unusually restrained with the eco claim on this bag, and that is to its credit. Rather than a headline recycled percentage, the spec says four recycled bottles go into the interior — a specific, checkable statement about one part of the bag instead of a vague number about all of it. There is no claim at all about the exterior fabric, so do not assume the whole bag is recycled. The other thing worth noting is that this part number lives in EMEA and APAC catalogues only; it is absent from the US site, which occasionally confuses people cross-checking specs. At 530 g for a 23 litre bag that takes a 16-inch laptop, the weight-to-capacity ratio is the real selling point.
Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if you want a very light 23 litre backpack that genuinely fits a 16-inch laptop, with some recycled content.
Skip it if
Skip it if you need a water-resistance rating, heavy padding or a documented recycled percentage across the whole bag.
