Gigabit PoE Injector, IEEE 802.3af, 15.4 W

802.3af PoE15.4 WGigabitPlug and play

The TP-Link TL-POE150S is a single-port gigabit PoE injector that adds IEEE 802.3af power to a normal Ethernet cable. It takes data from any switch or router port on one RJ45 socket and sends data plus up to 15.4 W of power over the same cable to a PoE device up to 100 m away, from its 48 V DC power adapter. The ports run at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX, so it does not slow a gigabit link. In practice it powers one access point, IP camera or VoIP phone where the switch has no PoE, without running a mains cable to the device.

Compatibility — check before buying:
802.3af only, up to 15.4 W. It powers standard PoE devices; it will not run 802.3at (PoE+) devices that need more than 15.4 W, such as many Wi-Fi 6/7 access points and PTZ cameras — for those, the TL-POE160S gives 30 W. It is not a passive 24 V or 48 V injector, and passive-PoE devices will not start. TP-Link also sells a newer hardware version named POE150S in a different housing; the specifications here follow the TL-POE150S page. Tell us your device model and we check its power class.

Best For

✓ One access point without a PoE switch
✓ IP cameras on a normal switch
✓ VoIP desk phones

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it power my access point?
Yes, if the access point uses IEEE 802.3af PoE and needs 15.4 W or less. Many newer Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 access points need 802.3at (30 W) or more. Send us the model and we check.
Does it slow down my network?
No. It passes 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps, so a gigabit device keeps its full speed.
How far can the device be?
Up to 100 m of cable from the injector to the device, according to TP-Link.
Does it work with passive PoE devices?
No. It follows IEEE 802.3af. Devices that need passive 24 V or 48 V PoE need a passive injector such as the TP-Link TL-POE4824G.
Singular Expert Insight
We suggest the TL-POE150S for a single standard-PoE device on a switch without PoE: it is simple and gigabit. When you need to power three or more devices, a PoE switch is usually cheaper and tidier. See our access points and IP cameras, or our network switches with built-in PoE.
