TP-Link UE306 — USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter
Gigabit EthernetUSB-A 3.0RJ45Nintendo Switch
The TP-Link UE306 is a USB-A 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet network adapter that adds one RJ45 port. It plugs into a USB-A port and gives a laptop, ultrabook, tablet or desktop PC a wired Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbps) connection through one RJ45 socket. It is plug and play on Windows 8 to 11, Linux (Ubuntu), Chrome OS and macOS 10.15 and later, and TP-Link also lists the Nintendo Switch, where a wired link helps with game downloads and online play. One LED shows the network status. A cable connection is the practical answer when Wi-Fi is weak or crowded, when a laptop has no network port, when the built-in port has failed, or when a PC needs a second network interface.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Compatibility — check before buying: USB-A plug: laptops with only USB-C ports need a USB-C to USB-A adapter, or the USB-C version of this adapter. For true Gigabit the adapter needs a USB 3.x port (usually blue or marked SS); on a USB 2.0 port it still works but tops out at roughly 300 Mbps. The switch or router port and the cable (Cat5e or better) must also be Gigabit. TP-Link lists Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8 and 7, macOS, Linux (Ubuntu), Chrome OS and Nintendo Switch; on Windows 7 a driver from TP-Link is needed. TP-Link sells this model in hardware versions V1 and V2; the version is printed on the label and only affects which driver you download. Not sure it suits your device? Frequently Asked Questions
Will I get full Gigabit speed?
Yes, when the adapter is in a USB 3.x port and the switch or router port and the cable are Gigabit. On USB 2.0 it runs, but slower.
Do I need to install a driver?
Not on Windows 8 to 11, Linux, Chrome OS or macOS 10.15 and later. Windows 7 and older macOS need the driver from TP-Link’s download page for your hardware version.
Does it work with the Nintendo Switch?
Yes, TP-Link lists the Nintendo Switch. Plug it into the USB port of the Switch dock.
Can I use it with a docking station or hub?
Yes, if the hub or dock port is USB 3.x for full Gigabit speed. Many docking stations already have their own RJ45 port, so check the dock first.
Singular Expert Insight
We suggest the UE306 for laptops with USB-A 3.0 and for the Nintendo Switch dock, where TP-Link lists support out of the box. For USB-C laptops, TP-Link’s UE300C is the USB-C twin. For more ports or a full desk setup, see our

network cards are in the same category. Local support in Cyprus comes with every order.
