The TRENDnet TL2-F70284 is a 1U Layer 2 managed fibre switch with 24 Gigabit SFP slots and four 10G SFP+ uplinks, designed as a fibre aggregation switch for campuses, multi-building sites, FTTx distribution and CCTV fibre backbones.

It offers 128 Gbps switching, 802.1Q/private/voice VLANs, LACP, STP/RSTP/MSTP, IGMP/MLD snooping, ACLs, DHCP snooping and IPv4/IPv6 static routing, managed through web GUI, CLI (console, Telnet, SSH) or SNMP.

Before you order: All ports are SFP/SFP+ — there are no RJ45 data ports and no modules are included. The 24 access slots run at 100M/1G; the four uplinks at 1G/10G. Send us your fibre type and distances and we will pick the right modules.

What It Means in Practice

  • Terminate up to 24 Gigabit fibre runs from buildings, floors or camera cabinets and aggregate them at 10G to the core.
  • The 24 access slots also take 100Base-FX modules for legacy fibre links.
  • Inter-VLAN and static routing let it route between site VLANs for internal traffic.
  • Dual firmware image and DDM optics monitoring help with maintenance.

What Will Not Work

  • No RJ45 copper data ports; copper devices need 1000BASE-T SFP modules.
  • No PoE.
  • The 24 access slots do not run at 10G — only the 4 SFP+ uplinks do.
  • No dynamic routing (OSPF/BGP).
  • Not silent: 3 smart fans, up to 52.9 dBA — install in a rack or technical room.

No. They support 100M and 1G modules; only the four SFP+ uplink slots support 10G.
Can I connect copper devices?
Yes, with 1000BASE-T copper SFP modules in the SFP slots, but a copper access switch is usually cheaper for many RJ45 devices.
Is it suitable for a CCTV fibre backbone?
Yes — terminate each camera cabinet on a Gigabit SFP and uplink the recorder side at 10G.
