The TRENDnet TEG-10GBSR/2 is a pack of two 10GBASE-SR SFP+ multi-mode fibre modules with duplex LC connectors, for 10 Gigabit links of up to 300m over OM3 or 400m over OM4 fibre between switches, servers and storage with SFP+ ports.
Two modules are exactly what one fibre link needs — one at each end. Each module supports Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM), so a compatible switch can report transmit and receive optical power, temperature and voltage, which makes fault-finding on a fibre run much quicker.
Before you order: These are multi-mode (850nm) modules: they need multi-mode fibre (OM1-OM4) with duplex LC connectors and a 10GBASE-SR module at the other end. Some switch vendors lock their SFP+ ports to their own optics — send us your switch model and we will check.

What It Means in Practice
- Typical use: uplink between two switches in different racks or floors, or a 10G link from a switch to a server or NAS.
- Reach depends on fibre grade: 400m on OM4, 300m on OM3, 82m on OM2, 33m on OM1 — check what fibre is already installed before planning a link.
- Hot-pluggable, so modules can be inserted or replaced without powering down the switch.
- DDM readings let you see a dirty connector or a damaged patch cord as a low receive level instead of guessing.
What Will Not Work
- They will not work over single-mode (OS1/OS2, yellow) fibre — that needs 10GBASE-LR modules.
- They will not link to a 10GBASE-LR or copper 10GBASE-T module; both ends must be 10GBASE-SR.
- They do not fit 1G-only SFP ports, and they are not RJ45 modules — you need fibre patch cords with LC connectors.
- Fibre patch cords are not included.
