The TRENDnet TC-P48C6 is a 48-port Cat 6 unshielded 19-inch 2U patch panel. It mounts in a 19-inch rack or cabinet and takes up 2U. Installation cable is punched down on the back with a 110 or Krone punch-down tool, and the 48 RJ45 sockets on the front take ordinary patch cords, rated for Gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T). In practice it gives the cables coming from wall outlets and ceilings a fixed, labelled end point next to your switch, so that moves and changes are made with short patch cords at the panel instead of re-terminating installation cable. If you are planning a new rack, send us the number of outlets and the switch you use — we check that panel, cable and patch cords match before you order.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It is 2U high and unshielded Cat6 — not a 1U panel and not rated for 10 Gbit/s; RB-TC-P48C6 is TRENDnet’s refurbished unit, not this new one. The ports are fixed and terminated with a 110 or Krone punch-down tool, which is not in the box. It is unshielded (UTP): use it with U/UTP cable, not in a shielded (STP/FTP) installation.
