The TRENDnet TEG-S50204 combines sixteen2.5GbE copper ports and four10G SFP+ slots in a fanless unmanaged switch. It provides a straightforward upgrade path for compatible workstations,NAS systems and access points using Cat5e or better cabling,with high-speed SFP+ links for suitable uplinks. Its metal1U enclosure and included rackmount kit suit a19-inch network rack without a management configuration step.

Before you order: This switch has20ports in total:16RJ45 and4SFP+ slots. Copper ports support up to2.5Gbps;the10Gbps ports are SFP+ slots requiring compatible modules or DAC cables and a matching remote device. Modules,cables and connected equipment are separate. This is not a PoE power source. VLAN/QoS tag passthrough does not provide managed VLAN or QoS configuration.

What It Means in Practice
- Mount in a suitable19-inch1U rack using the included kit and leave ventilation space around the fanless enclosure.
- Connect the internal power supply to mains using the supplied power cord.
- Use Cat5e or better copper cabling and compatible2.5GbE network interfaces to negotiate2.5Gbps links.
- Select compatible1G/10G SFP modules or10G SFP+ links and verify both ends of each connection.
- Configure VLANs or routing on suitable upstream/downstream equipment if required;this switch passes supported tags through.
What Will Not Work
- There is no web-managed VLAN,routing or link-aggregation configuration advertised for this unmanaged model.
- RJ45 ports do not provide10GBASE-T and do not supply PoE power.
- The160Gbps switching figure is aggregate switching capacity,not the speed of one connection.
- Fanless operation still requires airflow and an ambient temperature within specification.
