Plug-and-play2.5G access with10G SFP+ links
24×2.5G RJ454×1G/10G SFP+Unmanaged /noPoE200Gbps fabric
The TRENDnet TEG-S50284 adds24 multi-gigabit copper ports and four SFP+ slots to a wired network. Its unmanaged design needs no switch configuration. A metal1U chassis, two smart fans and the included rack kit suit a network cupboard or suitable wall installation. The copper ports support up to2.5Gbps using suitable Cat5e or better cabling.
Best For: Office, studio and small-business networks needing many2.5G device connections and compatible10G uplinks without configurable switch management.
Before you order: This switch is unmanaged and cannot configure VLANs or routing. VLAN and QoS tag passthrough preserve supported tagged traffic;they are not management features. There is noPoE output. Copper ports top out at2.5Gbps;10G uses compatible SFP+ modules or DACs purchased separately. A router is still required for Internet routing. Two fans mean it is not fanless.
What's in the Box
- TEG-S50284 switch.
- Rackmount kit, Quick Installation Guide and1.5m power cord.
- SFP/SFP+ transceivers,DACs,fibre and network patch leads are separate. No external DC adapter is listed as required.
What It Means in Practice
- Connect10/100/1000/2500Mbps RJ45 devices with suitable Cat5e or better cabling.
- Match the4SFP+ slots to supported1G or10G modules and compatible fibre/DAC cabling.
- Connect an existing router or managed network for upstream services;this unit only expands switched connectivity.
- Use a suitable19-inch1U rack or manufacturer-supported wall installation and preserve fan airflow.
- Check link LEDs and the connected network adapter when a device negotiates1Gbps instead of2.5Gbps.
What Will Not Work
- No management interface, configurable VLANs,LACP or IP routing is specified.
- NoPoE and no5G/10G copper ports.
- VLAN tag passthrough does not create VLAN isolation policies for you.
- 200Gbps fabric and148.8Mpps forwarding are switching specifications, not guaranteed application or Internet speeds.
Key Features
Multi-gig copper
24RJ45 ports support10Mbps,100Mbps,1Gbps and2.5Gbps negotiation.
SFP+ connectivity
Four1G/10G slots support suitable separate transceivers or DAC links.
No configuration
An unmanaged design provides simple port expansion;router and network policies remain upstream.
Rack hardware
Metal1U enclosure, included brackets and two temperature-responsive smart fans.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I configure VLANs?
No. ManufacturerFAQ identifies it as non-manageable. Tagged VLAN traffic can pass through, but VLAN policies need suitable managed equipment.
Does it power access points?
No. Use separate suitable power or aPoE solution for attached devices.
Are theRJ45 ports10G?
No. Copper ports support up to2.5Gbps. The10G interfaces areSFP+ slots.
Do I need a router?
Yes for Internet routing and related services. This switch expands available wired ports.
Are optics included?
No transceivers orDACs are listed in the supplied package. Select compatible ones separately.
Singular Expert Insight
Separate the need for faster links from the need for management. This model provides2.5G copper access and10G SFP+ connectivity simply, but it cannot implement your VLAN policies or route between networks. Plan adapter speeds, optics and router capacity together so one slower upstream link does not limit the intended workflow.
Buyer’s Guide
✓ Buy it if You need straightforward24-port2.5G expansion with fourSFP+ links and no switch configuration.
✕ Skip it if You needPoE,managed VLANs,link aggregation,routing,10G copper or fanless operation.
→ Also consider NIC capabilities,Cat5e cabling,compatible optics/DACs,router throughput,rack space and fan airflow.
