TRENDnet TPE-BG5091 2.5G PoE++ Switch 480W 10G SFP+
Eight high-power PoE++ connections and a 10G uplink
The TRENDnet TPE-BG5091 is an unmanaged multi-gigabit switch with eight 2.5G RJ45 PoE++ ports and one 10G SFP+ uplink. Its internal GaN power supply provides a shared 480 W PoE allowance, with up to 95 W on an individual copper port within that total. The metal rack-mountable enclosure uses two smart fans for cooling.
What's in the Box
- TPE-BG5091 switch, rack-mount kit and 1.5 m power cord.
- Transceivers, fiber, DACs, Ethernet cables and connected devices are separate.
What It Means in Practice
- Use suitable Cat5e or better cabling for compatible 2.5G connections.
- Power compatible IEEE 802.3af/at/bt devices within the shared 480 W allowance.
- Use the separate SFP+ cage for a compatible high-speed link without occupying a copper port.
- Connect without management setup, leaving sufficient rack ventilation for the cooling fans.
What Will Not Work
- Eight ports at 95 W each cannot operate within the 480 W shared limit.
- No configurable managed VLAN or web-management function is claimed.
- The SFP+ cage does not supply PoE and requires separate compatible link hardware.
- The switch needs AC power; it is not a PoE-powered passthrough device.
- Two smart fans mean it is not a silent fanless model.

Frequently Asked Questions
Choose this model by both the required number of powered ports and the combined load. Its 480 W allowance is substantial, but is shared across all eight copper ports. Include uplink compatibility, rack ventilation and fan noise in the installation plan.
