The TRENDnet TC-NT3 VDV & USB Cable Tester checks voice, data, video and USB cables for proper, open, short-circuited and cross-connected pins, for technicians who handle LAN, telephone, coax and USB cabling with one tool. It supports Cat 3 to Cat 8 cable, BNC and F-type coax and USB 3.0/2.0 A-to-B cables, up to 300 m.

It also tests the grounding of shielded cables, offers a quick pass/fail mode and a blinking hub/switch mode that flashes the link LED of the port the cable is plugged into.

Good to know: TRENDnet has discontinued the TC-NT3 and lists the TC-NT2 as its replacement. The transmitter needs one 9 V battery, which is not included.

It makes the link LED of the switch port the cable is connected to flash, so you can identify which port an unlabelled wall outlet is patched to without tracing the cable.
What is the difference between the TC-NT3 and the TC-NT2?
The TC-NT3 adds native USB 3.0/2.0 testing, a shield ground test, F-type coax adapters, a quick pass/fail mode and the hub-blink function. The TC-NT2 is TRENDnet's current replacement and needs the optional TC-NTUF adapter for USB.
