TRENDnet TFC-110S60 — 10/100 RJ45 to 100Base-FX Single-Mode SC Fiber Converter (60 km)
Up to 60 kmSingle-mode SC · 1310 nm10/100 Auto-MDIXWall-mountable
The TRENDnet TFC-110S60 is a Fast Ethernet media converter that turns a 10/100 copper RJ45 link into a 100Base-FX single-mode fibre link over SC connectors, reaching up to 60 km — built for linking two buildings, a remote cabinet or a distant site where copper stops at 100 m.
It is a simple, unmanaged box: plug a Cat5 cable from your switch into the RJ45 port, connect a duplex single-mode fibre to the SC port, power it with the supplied adapter and the link comes up. A matching converter or a switch with a 100Base-FX single-mode SC port is needed at the far end.
Before you order: This is a 100 Mbps (Fast Ethernet) converter with a single-mode SC port at 1310 nm. The far end must also be 100Base-FX single-mode at 1310 nm — it will not link with Gigabit (1000Base-LX/SX) fibre ports or with multi-mode equipment.
What's in the Box
- 1x TRENDnet TFC-110S60 media converter
- 1x external power adapter (7.5 V DC, 1 A)
- 1x multi-language quick installation guide
- Fibre patch cords and SFP modules are not included
What It Means in Practice
- Extends a 10/100 network up to 60 km over duplex single-mode fibre (9/125 or 10/125 µm), far beyond the 100 m copper limit.
- You need two units — one at each end — or one unit plus a switch/router with a 100Base-FX single-mode SC port.
- The copper side auto-negotiates 10/100 Mbps and half/full duplex and has Auto-MDIX, so straight or crossover cable both work.
- A DIP switch sets the fibre port to half or full duplex; full duplex gives 200 Mbps aggregate throughput.
- Can sit on a shelf, be wall-mounted, or slide into the optional TRENDnet TFC-1600 16-bay 19" chassis with redundant power.
What Will Not Work
- No Gigabit: the fibre side is 100 Mbps only — it will not talk to 1000Base-LX/SX ports or SFP modules.
- Not for multi-mode fibre (50/125 or 62.5/125 µm) — use a multi-mode converter instead.
- Not compatible with LC, ST or MT-RJ connectors without the correct patch cords; the port is SC duplex.
- Not a single-strand (BiDi/WDM) unit: it needs two fibres (Tx and Rx).
- No PoE output and no management (no VLAN, SNMP or web interface).

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need two converters?
Yes, unless the far end already has a switch or router with a 100Base-FX single-mode SC port at 1310 nm. Most installations use a pair of TFC-110S60 units, one at each end.
Can I use it on a link shorter than 60 km?
Yes. With a 30 dB optical budget, very short runs normally work with standard single-mode patch cords; if you see errors on a very short link, an inline attenuator may be needed.
Will it work with my Gigabit switch?
Yes on the copper side — the RJ45 port links to any 10/100/1000 switch port at 100 Mbps. The fibre side, however, only talks to 100Base-FX single-mode equipment.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
For a long single-mode run where 100 Mbps is enough — CCTV, access control, a remote office or a building link — the TFC-110S60 is a simple, proven way to bridge copper and fibre. Order the fibre side to match exactly: single-mode, SC duplex, 1310 nm, 100 Mbps. For the copper side, pick standard Cat5e/Cat6
network cables from our range.
✓ Buy it if you need a 10/100 copper-to-fibre link over duplex single-mode fibre up to 60 km.
✕ Skip it if you need Gigabit, multi-mode fibre or a single-strand (BiDi) link.
→ Also consider a Gigabit single-mode media converter if the link will ever need more than 100 Mbps.
Not sure what is on the other end of your fibre? Send us the model of the far-end switch or converter and the fibre type, and we will check compatibility before you order.
