The TRENDnet TPE-1620WSF is a 1U Web Smart switch with sixteen Gigabit PoE+ ports and four shared Gigabit RJ45/SFP uplinks, designed to power and manage a full floor of IP cameras, wireless access points and IP phones from one rack unit.

Its 370W PoE budget is large enough to run all sixteen ports at around 23W at the same time, or many of them at the full 30W (IEEE 802.3af/at). Management covers VLANs, QoS, LACP, ACLs, IGMP/MLD snooping and IPv4/IPv6 static routing via web GUI, plus CLI over Telnet/SSH.

Before you order: Do not confuse it with the TPE-1620WS: same port layout, but the TPE-1620WS has a 185W budget and no CLI. SFP modules are not included.

What It Means in Practice

  • Sixteen PoE+ cameras or access points on one switch, with enough budget for most to draw their full rated power.
  • PoE port priority, scheduling and PD alive check: power off access points at night or auto-reboot a frozen camera.
  • The four shared uplinks: use RJ45 or SFP on each, not both.
  • Inter-VLAN static routing keeps cameras, phones and users separated but reachable.

What Will Not Work

  • No PoE++ (802.3bt) — devices needing more than 30W per port will not get enough power.
  • No 10G uplinks — the four uplinks are Gigabit.
  • No dynamic routing protocols.
  • Not fanless: two smart-speed fans (up to 52 dBA), better in a rack or technical room.
