The TRENDnet TPE-204US is a 20-port Gigabit Web Smart PoE switch with eight Ultra PoE ports (IEEE 802.3bt, up to 60 W), eight PoE+ ports (802.3at, up to 30 W), four shared Gigabit RJ45/SFP ports and a 370 W total PoE budget in a 1U rack-mount metal chassis. It suits small and mid-size installations that mix high-power devices — PTZ cameras, Wi-Fi 6 access points, thin clients — with standard PoE phones and cameras.

As a Web Smart switch it adds VLANs, QoS, link aggregation, IGMP snooping, ACLs and even IPv4/IPv6 static routing through a browser interface, without the complexity of a full CLI-managed switch.

What It Means in Practice

  • Per the TRENDnet datasheet, ports 1–8 deliver PoE+ up to 30 W and ports 9–16 deliver Ultra PoE up to 60 W — plug high-power devices into 9–16.
  • 370 W total: for example four 60 W PTZ cameras plus eight 15 W cameras or phones.
  • The four shared ports can be used as copper or SFP fibre uplinks (one or the other per port).
  • PoE scheduling, port priority and PD alive check let you reboot hung cameras automatically and switch off PoE out of hours.

What Will Not Work

  • The budget does not cover all 16 PoE ports at maximum power at once.
  • The shared ports 17–20 do not supply PoE.
  • It is not stackable and has no 10G uplinks.
  • SFP modules are not included.

Which ports give 60 W?
According to the TRENDnet datasheet, ports 9–16 are the 802.3bt Ultra PoE ports (up to 60 W); ports 1–8 are PoE+ (30 W).
Does it support 90 W devices?
No — the maximum is 60 W per port. 90 W (802.3bt Type 4) devices need a different switch.
Can I manage it from the cloud?
Management is through the web GUI and SNMP; optional TRENDnet Hive cloud management is a separate paid service.
