Trust Halyx 24947 — 4-Port USB 3.2 Gen 1 Hub, USB-A

4 x USB-A at 5 GbpsDie-cast aluminium211 mm strip, 38 gUp to 5-year Trust warranty

The Trust Halyx 24947 adds four USB-A ports to a computer that already has a USB-A socket, all running at up to 5 Gbps. Its shape is the distinguishing feature: 211 mm wide and 11 mm high, so it lies as a thin die-cast aluminium strip along a desk edge or the base of a monitor stand rather than sitting as a block beside the machine. It weighs 38 g, connects on a short 10 cm cable and carries a power LED.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The plug is USB-A. Trust sells the near-identically named Halyx 24948 with a USB-C plug instead — same family, same four ports, same aluminium strip, and a hub that will not fit your machine if you order the wrong article number. This page is the USB-A version, article 24947. The hub is bus-powered: Trust states no additional power adapter is needed, and none is supplied, so keyboards, mice, dongles, flash drives and one bus-powered SSD are the right load. There is no video output, no Ethernet and no charging input. The 10 cm cable is deliberately short — the hub sits beside the machine, not across the desk. Trust lists Windows 10 and 11, macOS 11 to 13 and ChromeOS.

Best For

✓ Desktops and laptops that have run out of USB-A ports
✓ Desk edges and monitor stands where a flat strip fits better than a block
✓ Keyboards, mice, wireless receivers and dongles
✓ Flash drives and card readers
✓ One bus-powered external SSD
✓ Buyers who want a long consumer warranty behind an accessory

Key Features

A strip, not a block
211 x 21 x 11 mm. Four devices plug into a line rather than clustering around a puck, which is why this shape suits a desk edge, a shelf lip or the base of a monitor stand.

5 Gbps on all four ports
USB 3.2 Gen 1 SuperSpeed, backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices. The bandwidth is shared, so one drive at a time gets the full rate.

Die-cast aluminium
Trust specifies a die-cast aluminium alloy body rather than moulded plastic. At 38 g it stays put when you pull a plug out of it, and it spreads the heat four active ports produce.

Warranty well beyond the usual
Trust operates an extended warranty running up to five years from the date of purchase for products sold in the EU, Norway, Switzerland, Serbia and the UK — considerably longer than the one or two years typical for a hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the USB-A or the USB-C version of the Halyx hub?
This is the USB-A one, article 24947. Trust also sells 24948, which looks identical but plugs in with USB-C, and 23786, an older four-port Halyx that runs at USB 2.0 speeds only. The article number is the only reliable way to tell them apart in a photograph.
Will the 10 cm cable reach?
It is deliberately short — the hub is designed to sit immediately beside the computer or along the near edge of a desk. If you need the ports a metre away, on the far side of a monitor for example, this is the wrong shape and we can suggest a hub with a longer lead.
Can I plug in an external drive?
A bus-powered 2.5-inch drive or a USB SSD works and shares the host port’s 5 Gbps with anything else connected. Two drives spinning at the same time is more than a bus-powered hub will reliably support — that needs a hub with its own mains adapter.
Does it need drivers?
No. It is a standard USB hub, recognised automatically by Windows, macOS and ChromeOS. There is nothing to install and nothing to configure.
Singular Expert Insight
Most four-port hubs are variations on a small rectangle; the Halyx is a 211 mm strip, and that decides whether it suits you more than any figure on the spec sheet. Along the front edge of a desk or the base of a monitor stand it is tidier than a block with four cables radiating from it. The other real differentiator is Trust’s extended warranty, which runs to five years in the EU — unusual on an accessory of this kind. Practically, use it for flash drives, receivers and one external SSD, and treat a monitor or a network socket as a job for a docking station.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want four extra USB-A ports from a machine that already has USB-A, you like a flat aluminium strip rather than a block, and a long manufacturer warranty matters to you.

Skip it if

Skip it if your laptop only has USB-C ports (order 24948 instead), if you need the ports more than 10 cm from the machine, or if video, Ethernet or laptop charging are required.

Also consider

Trust Halyx 24948 if your computer has USB-C rather than USB-A, or a USB-C docking station if a monitor and a network socket need to come off the same cable.
