Trust Halyx 24948 — USB-C Hub with Four USB-A Ports

4 x USB-A at 5 GbpsAluminium, 35 g10 cm USB-C cableUp to 5-year Trust warranty

The Trust Halyx 24948 is a USB-C hub that hands back four standard USB-A ports at up to 5 Gbps. Its shape is the thing to notice: 210 mm wide and only 11 mm high, so it lies as a thin aluminium strip along the edge of a desk or the back of a monitor stand rather than sitting as a block beside the laptop. It weighs 35 g and connects on a short 10 cm cable, with a power LED to show it is live.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The plug is USB-C. Trust sells the near-identically named Halyx 24947 with a USB-A plug instead — same family, same four ports, and a hub that will not fit your machine if you order the wrong one. This page is the USB-C version, article 24948. The hub is bus-powered: Trust states no power adapter is needed, and none is supplied, so keyboards, mice, dongles, flash drives and one bus-powered SSD are the right load. There is no video output, no Ethernet and no charging input. The 10 cm cable is short — the hub is meant to sit right beside the laptop, not across the desk. Trust lists Windows 10 and 11, macOS 11 to 13, ChromeOS, Android and iOS.

Best For

✓ USB-C laptops that still need four USB-A sockets
✓ Desk edges and monitor stands where a flat strip fits better than a block
✓ Keyboards, mice, wireless receivers and dongles
✓ Flash drives and card readers
✓ One bus-powered external SSD
✓ Buyers who want a long consumer warranty behind an accessory

Key Features

A strip, not a block
210 x 21 x 11 mm. Four devices plug into a line rather than clustering around a puck, which is why this shape suits a desk edge, a shelf lip or the base of a monitor stand.

5 Gbps on all four ports
USB 3.2 Gen 1 SuperSpeed, backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices. The bandwidth is shared, so one drive at a time gets the full rate.

Aluminium and 35 g
An aluminium alloy body that spreads heat and resists flex, at a weight that still travels easily in a laptop bag.

Warranty well beyond the usual
Trust operates an extended warranty of up to five years from the date of purchase for products sold in the EU, Norway, Switzerland, Serbia and the UK — considerably longer than the one or two years typical for a hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the USB-C or the USB-A version of the Halyx hub?
This is the USB-C one, article 24948. Trust also sells 24947, which looks the same but plugs in with USB-A, and 23786, an older four-port Halyx that runs at USB 2.0 speeds only. The article number is the only reliable way to tell them apart.
Will the 10 cm cable reach?
It is deliberately short — the hub is designed to sit immediately beside the laptop or along the near edge of a desk. If you need the ports a metre away, on the far side of a monitor for example, this is the wrong shape and we can suggest a hub with a longer lead.
Can I plug in an external drive?
A bus-powered 2.5-inch drive or a USB SSD works and shares the host port’s 5 Gbps with anything else connected. Two drives spinning at the same time is more than a bus-powered hub will reliably support — that needs a hub with its own mains adapter.
Does it charge the laptop?
No. There is no Power Delivery input, so the hub takes power from the machine. On a laptop with one USB-C port you will need to choose between the hub and the charger, or look at a hub with a pass-through charging socket.
Singular Expert Insight
Most four-port hubs are variations on a small rectangle; the Halyx is a 210 mm strip, and that decides whether it suits you more than any spec on the sheet. Along the front edge of a desk or the base of a monitor stand it is tidier than a block with four cables radiating out of it; in a laptop bag it is a long thin thing rather than a small square one. The other genuine differentiator is Trust’s extended warranty, which runs to five years in the EU — unusual on an accessory of this kind. Practically, use it for flash drives, receivers and one external SSD, and treat a monitor or a network socket as a job for a docking station.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want four USB-A ports from a USB-C laptop, you like the idea of a flat aluminium strip rather than a block, and a long manufacturer warranty matters to you.

Skip it if

Skip it if your computer has USB-A rather than USB-C, if you need the ports more than 10 cm from the machine, or if video, Ethernet or laptop charging are required.

Also consider

Trust Halyx 24947 if your computer has a USB-A port, or a USB-C docking station if a monitor and a network socket need to come off the same cable.
