The Ubiquiti Ethernet Surge Protection DIN (part number UACC-ETH-SP-DIN) is an indoor, DIN-rail-mounted inline surge protector that shields network equipment on copper runs entering the building. It protects data lines up to 10 Gbps, passes PoE through untouched, and absorbs surges with a 20 kA discharge capacity — double the rating of the classic outdoor ETH-SP-G2. Compatibility note: For indoor installation on a DIN rail (or wall) — typically in the distribution cabinet where an outdoor run terminates. Proper earthing/grounding is essential for the gas discharge stage to work; protection is bidirectional, guarding both the switch side and the field side.

Where should the UACC-ETH-SP-DIN be installed?
Indoors, at the point where an outdoor Ethernet run enters the cabinet — clipped to the DIN rail and properly earthed. For the device end on the mast, pair it with the outdoor ETH-SP-G2.
Does it slow down my network or affect PoE?
No. It is rated for links up to 10 Gbps with negligible added capacitance, and PoE (including high-power) passes through normally.
What is the difference from the ETH-SP-G2?
The G2 is an outdoor, drip-loop unit rated 1 Gbps and 10 kA+; the DIN version is an indoor rail-mount rated up to 10 GbE with 20 kA discharge. Best practice uses one at each end of exposed runs.
What do I need to know before buying?
It needs a solid ground connection to divert surge energy, and you should budget one protector per exposed cable run.
