Ubiquiti UniFi OS2 Duplex LC UPC Fibre Patch Cable, 10 m — Single-Mode, LSZH, Rated to 100G

OS2 single-mode, duplexLC UPC to LC UPCInsertion loss ≤ 0.3 dBLSZH jacket, 2 mm

The Ubiquiti UniFi OS2 Duplex LC UPC Fibre Patch Cable is a 10 metre single-mode patch lead for linking switches, routers and fibre network cards over distances and speeds that copper cannot reach. It carries the part number UACC-OFC-S2-LULU-10M and terminates in duplex LC UPC connectors at both ends. The OS2 fibre operates at 1310 and 1550 nm and is rated for connections up to 100G, with insertion loss of 0.3 dB or less, return loss of 50 dB or better, and repeatability within 0.1 dB. The jacket is low smoke zero halogen at 2 mm in diameter, finished in the yellow that conventionally identifies single-mode fibre, and the cable is rated from -40 to 75 °C. Ubiquiti tests the connectors for 1,000 mating cycles within 0.2 dB of loss. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Fibre is unforgiving about matching, so check three things before ordering. First, this is OS2 single-mode fibre, not multi-mode — it must be used with single-mode transceivers. Multi-mode OM3 or OM4 equipment, usually identified by aqua-coloured cable, will not work correctly with it. Second, the connectors are LC UPC polish, not APC. APC connectors are green and angled; mating UPC to APC gives poor return loss and can physically damage the ferrules. Third, both ends are duplex LC, so both devices need LC ports. SFP, SFP+ or QSFP transceivers are not included — the cable connects modules you supply, and those modules must also be single-mode and matched to the link speed and distance. Handle fibre carefully: keep the dust caps on until the moment you connect, do not kink or crush the cable, and clean the ferrules if a link comes up with errors. Ubiquiti does not publish a minimum bend radius or tensile rating for this cable.
Best For
✓ Linking UniFi switches over single-mode fibre
✓ Connecting a fibre network card to a switch uplink
✓ Runs between comms cabinets in the same building
✓ Patching from a fibre panel to switch SFP ports
✓ 10G, 25G, 40G and 100G uplinks
✓ Installations requiring LSZH cable for fire safety
Key Features

OS2 single-mode rated to 100G
OS2 fibre at 1310 and 1550 nm carries connections up to 100G, so the same patch lead serves a 10G uplink today and a 40G or 100G link after an upgrade. Single-mode also removes the distance limits that constrain multi-mode fibre on faster links.

Low insertion loss and high return loss
Insertion loss is 0.3 dB or less and return loss 50 dB or better, with repeatability within 0.1 dB. On a fibre link the patch leads are where sloppy tolerances show up first, so these figures matter more than the headline speed rating.

LSZH jacket at 2 mm diameter
The low smoke zero halogen jacket produces far less toxic smoke than PVC if it burns, which is why LSZH is specified for cable runs inside occupied buildings and risers. At 2 mm the cable is slim enough to route neatly through congested patch panels.

Rated for 1,000 mating cycles
Ubiquiti rates the connectors for 1,000 insertions while staying within 0.2 dB of additional loss, and the cable operates from -40 to 75 °C. That covers a patch lead that gets moved repeatedly during commissioning and reconfiguration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this cable with multi-mode equipment?
No. This is OS2 single-mode fibre, and it must be paired with single-mode transceivers. Multi-mode fibre (OM3 and OM4, usually aqua coloured) uses a different core size and different optics. Mixing the two produces either no link or a link with heavy loss. The yellow jacket on this cable is the conventional marker for single-mode.
What is the difference between UPC and APC connectors?
UPC connectors have a flat, polished ferrule end face; APC connectors are angled at eight degrees and are coloured green. The angle changes how reflected light behaves, so APC gives better return loss but the two types must never be mated together — doing so causes high loss and can damage the ferrules. This cable is UPC at both ends.
Are transceivers included?
No. The cable connects SFP, SFP+, SFP28 or QSFP modules that you supply at each end. Those modules must be single-mode to match this fibre, and rated for the speed and distance of the link. The cable itself supports up to 100G, but the actual speed is determined entirely by the transceivers.
What do I need to know before installing fibre patch leads?
Keep the dust caps fitted until the moment of connection, because a single speck on a ferrule can raise loss significantly. Do not kink, crush or over-tighten cable ties around the cable. If a link comes up with errors, clean both ferrules before assuming the cable is faulty. Ubiquiti does not publish a minimum bend radius, so route it generously rather than tightly.
Singular Expert Insight
Patch leads are where fibre links quietly lose their margin, so it is worth buying properly specified ones. The figures that matter here are the 0.3 dB insertion loss and 50 dB return loss — a cheap lead with loose tolerances eats into the optical budget and turns a link that should be solid into one that errors intermittently at the far end of its distance. The LSZH jacket is the other detail worth paying for if the run goes through an occupied building, because it is what building regulations increasingly expect. Two things to confirm before ordering: that your transceivers are single-mode rather than multi-mode, and that everything in the path is UPC rather than APC. Both mistakes are common and both produce links that either fail or look inexplicably lossy. See our network switches range for the switches this typically connects, and our network cards range if you are putting fibre into a server or workstation.
Buyer's Guide

Buy it if

You need a properly specified 10 metre single-mode patch lead with LC UPC connectors at both ends, low insertion loss and an LSZH jacket, for a 10G to 100G fibre uplink.

Skip it if

Your equipment uses multi-mode OM3 or OM4 fibre, your ports are APC rather than UPC, you need a different connector type such as SC or MPO, or 10 metres is the wrong length.

Also consider

The same cable in 0.5, 1, 3, 5, 15 or 30 metres from the UACC-OFC-S2-LULU family, or single-mode SFP transceivers if you still need modules for each end.
