The Ubiquiti UACC-OM-QSFP28-SR4 is a 100G QSFP28 optical module of the SR4 type, carrying four 850 nm lanes over an MPO-12 multimode trunk: 100 m on OM4 and 70 m on OM3. It also runs at 40G, and is the short-reach optic for UniFi aggregation switches linking racks inside one data room. In practice, multimode optics are the cheaper choice for links inside one building: most server rooms and floor risers already carry OM3 or OM4 fibre, and the module plus a short patch cord is all a port needs. Before you order, check the fibre grade printed on the cable jacket and the real length of the run, including patch panels.

Compatibility — check before buying:
It has an MPO-12 Type B UPC connector, so ordinary LC duplex patch cords will not fit — you need an MPO-12 multimode trunk, which is not included. It will not work on single-mode fibre, and reach is 70 m on OM3, 100 m on OM4. For links between buildings, the single-mode UACC-OM-QSFP28-LR4 uses LC and reaches 10 km. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure? What cable do I need?
An MPO-12 multimode trunk, OM3 or OM4, with a matching SR4 module at the other end. It is not included — tell us the distance and we quote it.
Does it run at 40G?
Yes. Ubiquiti lists 40 and 100 Gbps and compatibility with QSFP28 and QSFP+ interfaces.
Are fibre patch cords included?
No. You get 1 module. The patch cord for the MPO-12 Type B, UPC connector, a matching module for the far end of the link and a fibre cleaning tool are bought separately. Tell us the distance and the fibre type and we quote the right cord.
Will it work in a switch from another brand?
Ubiquiti builds its UniFi optics for UniFi switches and gateways and does not publish operation in other brands’ switches, so we do not promise it — send us the model and we check it.
