Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Mesh — WiFi 7 Indoor and Outdoor Access Point with Wireless Meshing and 2.5GbE

WiFi 7 (802.11be), dual-bandWireless mesh uplinkIPX6 with outdoor mount2.5 GbE PoE, 13 W

The Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Mesh is a WiFi 7 access point designed to be dropped anywhere a cable will not easily reach — it can take a wired 2.5 GbE uplink or join an existing UniFi network over a wireless mesh link, and it is rated IPX6 when fitted with the supplied outdoor mount. It carries the model number U7-Mesh, runs 802.11be across the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands with four spatial streams (2x2 MIMO per band), and reaches 4.3 Gbps on 5 GHz using 240 MHz channels plus 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Ubiquiti rates it for 140 m2 of coverage and more than 200 connected clients. The cylindrical body measures just 48.5 mm across, draws a maximum of 13 W over PoE, and ships with a PoE adapter and wall, pole and table-stand mounts. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The single most important point: this is a dual-band WiFi 7 access point — there is no 6 GHz radio. It covers 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz only. You still get the WiFi 7 efficiency gains and 240 MHz channels on 5 GHz, but not the clean 6 GHz spectrum that 6 GHz-capable WiFi 7 and WiFi 6E access points use; if 6 GHz is what you are buying WiFi 7 for, choose a different model. It requires a UniFi controller — UniFi Network software version 10.1.85 or later, running on a UniFi console, a Cloud Key or self-hosted — it is not a standalone router or range extender and will not work on its own. The IPX6 rating only applies when the unit is installed with the outdoor mount; IPX6 covers powerful water jets, not immersion. Power is PoE at up to 13 W over the 2.5 GbE port, with a PoE adapter supplied, so a PoE switch is optional. Wireless meshing costs throughput compared with a wired uplink, so use the 2.5 GbE port wherever a cable can reach. Operating range is -30 to 60 °C.
Best For
✓ Extending UniFi coverage where running cable is impractical
✓ Gardens, terraces, patios and poolside areas
✓ Small offices and shops adding a WiFi 7 access point
✓ Warehouses and yards needing a weather-rated unit
✓ Sites that want one AP to work indoors or outdoors
✓ Existing UniFi networks upgrading a mesh node to WiFi 7
Key Features

WiFi 7 with 240 MHz channels on 5 GHz
802.11be across 2.4 and 5 GHz with four spatial streams (2x2 MIMO per band) reaches 4.3 Gbps on 5 GHz using 240 MHz channel width, plus 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Ubiquiti rates the unit for 140 m2 of coverage and more than 200 simultaneous clients.

Wireless meshing or a 2.5 GbE wired uplink
The U7 Mesh can join a UniFi network over a wireless mesh link, which is the point of the model — you can place it where no cable runs. Where a cable does reach, the 2.5 GbE port gives a full-speed wired uplink that avoids the throughput cost of meshing.

Dual antenna design with a directional 5 GHz option
The 5 GHz radio offers 6 dBi omnidirectional coverage or 10 dBi directional gain, with 3 dBi on 2.4 GHz. The directional option is what makes a long mesh backhaul hop practical, aiming signal at the upstream access point rather than spreading it in all directions.

IPX6 rated, PoE powered, mounts included
With the supplied outdoor mount the unit is IPX6 rated and operates from -30 to 60 °C. It draws a maximum of 13 W over PoE and ships with a PoE adapter plus wall, pole and table-stand mounting hardware, so no separate PoE switch or mount purchase is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the UniFi U7 Mesh have a 6 GHz radio?
No. It is a dual-band WiFi 7 access point covering 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz only. You get the 802.11be improvements and 240 MHz channel width on 5 GHz, but not the 6 GHz band. That is a deliberate design choice for a mesh unit, since 6 GHz signals travel poorly through walls and over distance, but it is the specification most likely to be assumed rather than checked. If you specifically need 6 GHz, look at a 6 GHz-capable UniFi model.
Can I use the U7 Mesh on its own, without other UniFi equipment?
No. Like all UniFi access points it needs a UniFi controller — a UniFi console, a Cloud Key, or the UniFi Network software self-hosted — running version 10.1.85 or later. It is not a standalone router and not a plug-in range extender. If you do not already run UniFi, budget for a console or Cloud Key at the same time.
Do I need a PoE switch to power it?
Not necessarily. A PoE adapter is included in the box, so the access point can be powered from a normal mains socket with the adapter inline on the Ethernet run. If you already have a PoE switch it will power the unit directly — maximum consumption is 13 W, well within any 802.3af budget.
Can I really mount this outdoors?
Yes, using the outdoor mount supplied in the box, which is what gives it the IPX6 rating — protection against powerful water jets from any direction. It operates from -30 to 60 °C, so Cyprus summer heat is within specification. IPX6 does not cover immersion, so it must not be sited where it could end up submerged.
Singular Expert Insight
The U7 Mesh solves a specific problem: a corner of the property that needs coverage and has no Ethernet run to it. Wireless meshing plus an IPX6 outdoor mount plus a 10 dBi directional 5 GHz option means you can put a WiFi 7 access point on a garden wall or a pole and link it back to the main network without trenching a cable. That flexibility is the product. Two things to be clear about before ordering. It is dual-band — no 6 GHz — so do not buy it expecting the headline 6 GHz WiFi 7 experience. And it needs a UniFi controller, so it is an addition to a UniFi network rather than a standalone device. Where you can run a cable, do: use the 2.5 GbE port and keep the mesh capability in reserve, because a wired uplink always outperforms a meshed one. Browse our access points range to compare models, and our network switches range if you would rather power it from a PoE switch than the supplied adapter.
Buyer's Guide

Buy it if

You run a UniFi network and need WiFi 7 coverage somewhere a cable cannot easily reach — a garden, a terrace, an outbuilding — and want one unit that works indoors or outdoors with wireless mesh uplink and a PoE adapter in the box.

Skip it if

You need a 6 GHz radio, you do not run a UniFi controller and do not want to add one, or a cable can reach the location easily — a standard wired UniFi access point will be faster and cheaper.

Also consider

A UniFi U7 Outdoor if the unit will be permanently outside and you do not need mesh uplink, or a wired indoor UniFi WiFi 7 access point if Ethernet can reach the location.
