Verbatim BD-RE 25 GB 2x — 5-Pack
BD-RE 25 GB2x speed5 discsBranded label
Verbatim 43615 is a pack of 5 BD-RE Blu-ray discs with 25 GB per disc (single layer), rated for up to 2x writing and supplied in a jewel case pack — aimed at rolling backups, test burns and moving data that changes.
Being rewritable, each disc can be erased and reused, which makes it the practical choice for data that changes; for permanent records a write-once BD-R is the better fit. The top carries a Verbatim branded label; you can write on it with a CD/DVD/BD-safe marker.
What's in the Box
- 5 × Verbatim BD-RE discs, 25 GB each (125 GB total)
- Jewel case packaging as supplied by Verbatim (5-pack)
- No drive, burning software or sleeves included
What It Means in Practice
- 25 GB per disc is about five times a single-layer DVD — enough for a large photo library, a full system image of a small PC or a long Full HD recording.
- Rated 2x (72 Mbps). Actual speed depends on your writer and burning software; for archive copies a moderate speed with verification after burning is a sensible habit.
- Rewritable up to 1,000 times (manufacturer figure) — ideal for weekly backups, test burns before a final BD-R, or carrying data between systems.
- Label by hand with a CD/DVD/BD-safe marker; avoid ballpoint pens and adhesive labels, which can damage or unbalance the disc.
- HardCoat Scratch Guard protects the data side against scratches, fingerprints and dust; Verbatim uses its SERL recording layer on these BD-RE discs.
- Jewel cases protect each disc on the shelf and leave room for a printed insert, which suits client deliveries and labelled archive sets.
- Windows and macOS can write simple data discs from the file manager; for verification after burning, multi-session control or Blu-ray video authoring, use dedicated burning software.
- For important archives burn two copies on separate discs and keep them in different locations — one disc is a copy, two discs in two places are a backup.
What Will Not Work
- CD or DVD-only drives cannot read or write these discs — you need a Blu-ray writer to burn them and a Blu-ray drive or player to read them.
- Some older set-top Blu-ray players read BD-R but not BD-RE; computer Blu-ray drives generally read both.
- There is no printable surface — choose an inkjet-printable version if you want to print artwork on the disc.
- Most current laptops and all current Macs have no optical drive; you will need an external USB Blu-ray writer.
- A data disc is not automatically a playable movie: to play in a Blu-ray player, video must be authored as a Blu-ray video disc with suitable software.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Blu-ray remains one of the few offline, write-protected storage options that small businesses can afford: an archive disc cannot be encrypted by ransomware once it is on the shelf. BD-RE is the working disc: use it for rotating backups, and move the final version to BD-R. For daily backups of hundreds of gigabytes, an external hard drive is faster and pairs well with periodic Blu-ray archive copies.
✓ Buy it if you back up the same data repeatedly or need a reusable disc for transport and testing.
✕ Skip it if you need a permanent, unchangeable archive — write-once BD-R is safer for that.
→ Also consider Verbatim 43694 — the same BD-RE 25 GB 2x in a 10-disc spindle; 43760 for 50 GB dual-layer rewritable.
Not sure your drive or printer supports these discs? Send us the model of your Blu-ray writer or disc-printing printer and we will check compatibility before you order.
