WD Ultrastar DC HC590 0F65672 — 26TB SED Data Center HDD
26 TBSATA 6 Gb/sTCG SEDCMR · 512 MB
The Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC590 0F65672 is a 26 TB data-center-class 3.5-inch SATA hard drive with hardware TCG self-encryption (SED), built for hyperscale and enterprise storage. Using an industry-first 11-platter CMR design with HelioSeal helium sealing and OptiNAND, it spins at 7200 RPM with a 512 MB cache over SATA 6 Gb/s. Identified by part number 0F65672 (EAN 0829686009172, model WUH722626ALE6L4), it is rated for 550 TB/year workloads and a 2.5-million-hour MTBF. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility & Setup
This is a bare internal 3.5-inch SATA drive for servers, RAID controllers and data-centre chassis that support 26 TB drives. It is a TCG Encryption self-encrypting drive: hardware AES encryption is always active, and to manage authentication keys and Instant Secure Erase you need a host, HBA or RAID controller with TCG Opal/Enterprise support — used without key management it still works as a standard SATA drive. No mounting screws or cables are included, and it ships unformatted for initialisation in your host.
Best For
✓Hyperscale and enterprise data centres
✓Servers and RAID/JBOD arrays
✓Security-sensitive storage requiring SED
✓24/7 read-intensive workloads
✓Backup, archival and cold-tier storage
✓Dense multi-bay high-capacity chassis
Key Features
Industry-first 11-platter CMR
A CMR (conventional magnetic recording) 11-disk HelioSeal platform reaches 26 TB while keeping consistent write performance and RAID compatibility — no SMR shingled-write penalty.
TCG self-encryption + Secure Erase
Hardware AES self-encryption (SED) with TCG support and Instant Secure Erase lets you cryptographically wipe the drive in seconds for secure decommissioning and compliance.
Data-center reliability
Rated for 550 TB/year workloads, a 2.5-million-hour MTBF and 1-in-10^15 error rate, with OptiNAND and ArmorCache protecting data and cache during power loss.
5-year limited warranty
Backed by a 5-year limited warranty for data-centre-grade assurance in mission-critical, always-on deployments.

Singular Expert Insight
The Ultrastar DC HC590 is Western Digital’s data-centre flagship, a notch above the WD Gold line: the 0F65672 adds TCG self-encryption (SED) for security-sensitive and compliance-driven deployments, while sharing the same 550 TB/year workload and 2.5-million-hour MTBF. If you do not need hardware encryption, the non-SED HC590 or a WD Gold drive costs less; if you are scaling a secure array, pair it with matching drives from our enterprise/server HDD range. For latency-critical tiers, an enterprise SSD is the complement.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need 26 TB per bay with hardware TCG SED encryption
You run secure or compliance-driven data-centre storage
You want 550 TB/yr workload and a 5-year warranty
Skip it if
You do not need self-encryption — a non-SED drive costs less
Your controller cannot address 26 TB drives
You need sub-millisecond latency — choose an enterprise SSD
