The Wera Kraftform Kompakt VDE Stainless 17 extra slim 1 (part number 05006631001) is the stainless version of Wera’s insulated blade system: two 3817 VDE Stainless blade-holding handles and fifteen stainless interchangeable blades at 157 mm, every piece individually tested at 10,000 V in accordance with IEC 60900 for approved working at 1,000 V. Stainless matters for a specific reason Wera states plainly — a normal steel tool rubs particles into a stainless fastener and causes extraneous rust. Compatibility — check before buying:
The whole set is insulated — both handles and all fifteen blades are individually tested at 10,000 V per IEC 60900 for 1,000 V working, and stainless construction does not reduce that rating. Note the blade mix: the two marked number 1 and number 2 are PZ/S PlusMinus combinations, not plain slotted, which many listings get wrong. Twelve of fifteen blades are reduced-diameter iS; the three standard-diameter i blades are the TX 10, the 0.4 x 2.5 and the 1.2 x 6.5 slotted. VDE blades keep their rating only in a VDE handle, and these blades take Wera VDE Stainless handles.

Key Features
Stainless blades stop extraneous rust
Wera’s rule is to screw stainless steel together with stainless steel. An ordinary steel blade leaves iron particles in a stainless screw head, and those particles rust and stain the fastener. Stainless blades avoid the problem at source rather than treating it afterwards.
Still fully VDE to 1000 V
Stainless does not mean a softer safety spec. Wera tests each handle and blade individually at 10,000 V in accordance with IEC 60900, ten times the maximum permitted load, which is what licenses safe working at the approved 1,000 volts.
Twelve reduced-diameter slim blades
The iS blades carry their protective insulation integrated into the shaft rather than sleeved over it, so the diameter stays small enough to reach sunken screws and spring terminals. Only the TX 10 and two slotted blades are standard diameter.
Two handles and vacuum ice-hardening
Two 3817 VDE Stainless handles mean two profiles stay loaded at once. Wera specifies vacuum ice-hardening for the required hardness and strength, and states that industrial use is possible without restrictions, so this is not a compromise tool.
