The Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC555 18TB (part number 0B47747) is a 3.5-inch enterprise hard drive with a 12Gb/s SAS interface, 7200 RPM and 512 MB cache, built for servers, storage arrays and data-centre workloads. It uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR) in a sealed HelioSeal helium enclosure and is rated for 550 TB per year with 2.5 million hours MTBF.
0B47747 is the SE (standard, non-encrypting) version: it offers sanitize overwrite but no self-encryption. Choose a different part number if your policy requires SED or TCG encryption.
Before you order: This is a SAS drive. It needs a SAS HBA or RAID controller and a SAS backplane — it will not work on SATA-only ports or SATA-only NAS bays.
