The Zebra 8100T CryoCool 3017014 is a box of 3 rolls of 30 x 15 mm satin white polyester labels for desktop Zebra printers, made for laboratory specimen vials and tubes, biobanks, cryogenic and liquid-nitrogen storage, freezer sample labelling.
8100T CryoCool is a satin white polyester label with a high-performance acrylic adhesive designed for cryogenic storage: Zebra rates it from -196 °C to +100 °C, through freeze-thaw cycles and dry ice, on small vials and test tubes. It prints by thermal transfer, ideally with a Zebra 5095 resin ribbon.
Before you order: These rolls are wound on a 25 mm (1") core with a roll diameter of about 129 mm — they are made for Zebra desktop printers. Industrial ZT, ZE and Xi printers take 76 mm core rolls. Thermal transfer labels need a ribbon and a printer with thermal transfer mode (models ending in t).
What's in the Box
- 3 rolls of Zebra 8100T CryoCool 30 x 15 mm labels, Zebra part number 3017014 — 4430 labels per roll, 13290 labels in the box
- Rolls on a 25 mm core, outer diameter about 129 mm
- No ribbon included — order a matching Zebra 5095 resin ribbon or 4800 separately
- No printer, software or spindle adapters included
What It Means in Practice
- Each label is 30 x 15 mm (width x length) — set the same size in your label software or printer driver before the first print
- Built for laboratory specimen vials and tubes, biobanks, cryogenic and liquid-nitrogen storage, freezer sample labelling
- Thermal transfer means the image is melted from a ribbon onto the label: you need a ribbon, but the print lasts much longer and resists heat and light
- The 25 mm core and about 129 mm roll diameter fit inside the media compartment of Zebra desktop printers
- After loading a new label size, run the printer media calibration so it detects the gap between labels and stops at the right position
What Will Not Work
- Direct-thermal-only printers (for example ZD421d, ZD411d, GC420d, GK420d) — they cannot use a ribbon, so these labels stay blank
- Zebra industrial printers (ZT, ZE, Xi series) without a core adapter — they expect 76 mm core rolls
- Inkjet, laser or label printers from other brands that need their own cartridges (for example DYMO or Brother DK rolls)
- Application below +4 °C — label the vial first, then freeze it
- Harsh solvents without testing first

Frequently Asked Questions
Which ribbon should I use?
Zebra recommends Zebra 5095 resin ribbon (recommended) or 4800 for this material. The ribbon must be at least as wide as the label and match your printer type (desktop or industrial ribbon).
Will this roll fit my printer?
It fits Zebra desktop printers that take 25 mm core rolls up to about 127 mm diameter, including GC420t, GK420t, GX420t, GX430t, ZD220t, ZD230t, ZD411t, ZD421t, ZD421c and ZD611t. Tell us your model and we will confirm.
Can I print these with a wax ribbon?
Use the ribbons Zebra specifies for this material — Zebra 5095 resin ribbon (recommended) or 4800. Synthetic labels need wax/resin or resin ribbons for the print to bond and resist rubbing.
How do I set up the printer for this label?
In the Zebra driver or ZebraDesigner, enter the label size 30 x 15 mm, choose thermal transfer as the print method and gap/notch media, then run a media calibration. Wrong settings are the most common cause of labels skipping or printing across the gap.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
CryoCool 8100T is the label to use when samples go into liquid nitrogen, dry ice or -80 °C freezers and must still scan years later. Apply it at room temperature to clean, dry vials before freezing, and print with a Zebra 5095 resin ribbon for the best chemical and smear resistance. Standard paper labels lift and crack at these temperatures. Browse our
Zebra and thermal labels range for other sizes, cores and materials.
✓ Buy it if you label cryogenic vials and tubes in a lab and print by thermal transfer on a Zebra desktop printer.
✕ Skip it if you need to label already-frozen vials (apply above +4 °C) or your printer is direct thermal only.
→ Also consider Zebra 5095 resin ribbon to print these labels, or other Zebra polyester lab labels for different vial sizes.
