The Zebra CBA-R08-S07ZBR is the official RS-232 cable that connects Zebra corded scanners such as the DS2208 and DS9908 to a Wincor Nixdorf Beetle POS, taking 5V power directly from the Beetle's powered serial port over a 2 m (7 ft) straight lead.
Because power comes through the cable, no separate scanner power supply is needed on a Beetle till. Zebra added TTL current-limit protection to this version, which replaces the discontinued CBA-R08-S07ZAR.
Before you order: This cable is specifically for Nixdorf Beetle 5V powered RS-232 ports. On a standard PC serial port without 5V, use a Zebra RS-232 cable that takes an external power supply instead.

What It Means in Practice
- One cable for data and power on Beetle tills: plug the modular end into the scanner and the other end into the Beetle's powered RS-232 port.
- No mains adapter on the counter, so fewer cables and one less part to fail.
- The scanner must be set to RS-232 with the settings your POS software expects (baud rate, parity) — Zebra's scanner guide has the setup barcodes.
- Straight 2 m lead reaches from the scanning position to a till under the counter.
What Will Not Work
- It will not power the scanner from a standard PC COM port that has no 5V on the port.
- It is not a USB cable — for USB hosts use CBA-U21-S07ZBR.
- Not for IBM 46xx or keyboard-wedge POS ports.
- Older Symbol LS-series scanners such as the LS1203 use different cables.

On Nixdorf Beetle tills this is the cleanest scanner connection: data and power over one lead, no adapter under the counter. The only real mistake is buying it for a generic PC serial port.
